Today I put my heart into words.
I wrote two songs—one for my daughter, Lila, and one for my husband, Bryan.
They come from real life. From fear, love, trauma, hope, imperfection, and choice.
❤️ My Choice, My Star (Lila)
The night was long, the road was hard
We walked a line between the dark
Every breath a prayer I made
Every tear I couldn’t say
Then I felt your heartbeat near
Heard the universe go clear
When they placed you in my arms
I knew love could leave a scar
We beat the odds, you and I
Two souls learning how to survive
Lila, you’re my hope, my star
You light the dark no matter how far
When the world feels heavy, I remember who you are
Lila, my reason, my truth
Every tomorrow leads back to you
You were my miracle from the start
My hope, my star
In my weakest, broken days
When anger speaks and sorrow stays
When I feel lost, when I feel small
When I feel like I might fall
All I do is think of you
Of the promise I still hold true
To be better than my fear
To make sure you always feel
Safe in love, safe in truth
Always chosen, always you
Lila, you’re my hope, my star
You shine on me right where you are
When I feel alone, you heal my heart
Lila, my reason, my truth
Every step I take leads back to you
You were my miracle from the start
My hope, my star
You have two papas who love you deep
In their own ways, strong and sweet
And a mama who would give her breath
For you, in life, in love, in death
You were never chance or time
You were always meant to be mine
Not by blood, but by my soul
You were my choice—I need you to know
Lila, you’re my hope, my star
My brightest light, my sacred spark
I’ll spend my life just proving this part
Lila, my reason, my truth
Every single day I choose you
And I always will, no matter how far
You are loved beyond measure, beyond choice.
But still—I choose you.
Every time.
❤️ I Choose You Again (Bryan)
We didn’t move slow, we didn’t play safe
We jumped right in with our hearts exposed
It all happened fast, maybe faster than sense
But I’d still say yes, knowing what I know
We came with scars, we came with storms
Two histories knocking at the door
But even then, in the mess of it all
I saw a future worth fighting for
I don’t just love you, I trust your hands
I respect your heart, I know where you stand
Bryan, I choose you again
Not just the good, but the hard till the end
When love gets heavy, when words fall thin
I don’t walk away—I lean back in
You’re my best friend, my business partner too
My soulmate learning how to heal through truth
We’re not perfect, we’re trying, and that’s why it’s real
Bryan, I choose you again
We’ve got problems, yeah, that’s true
We both carry things we never outgrew
We need some help, we need some light
There’s no shame in asking for it tonight
’Cause love alone won’t fix every crack
But vows mean turning, not turning back
I promised to listen, not just be heard
To seek your heart before my words
I want to understand, not just defend
To be your partner, not just right in the end
Bryan, I choose you again
In counseling rooms and quiet amends
Through broken patterns, through learning when
To soften my voice, to let you in
You’re the man I want raising our star
Teaching love just by who you are
We’re still becoming, we’re still learning how
Bryan, I choose you now
I want slow mornings and late-night talks
Coffee cups and long, long walks
Comforting arms, passionate nights
Soft laughter under kitchen lights
I want my secrets safe with you
My fears held gently, my truth held too
You’re my king, but still my friend
Not above me—right here with me till the end
Bryan, I choose you again
With all our edges, bends, and bends again
I choose the work, the healing, the trust
The love that’s built, not just discussed
Side by side for the years to come
With all our imperfections, not just the fun
I made a vow, and I mean it still
Bryan, I choose you—I always will
Here’s my hand—not because it’s easy.
But because it’s you.
Imperfect. Real. Chosen. ❤️
