Zoe Midwifery An independent midwifery practice providing comprehensive care in Goshen, Indiana. She has been a preceptor to student nurse midwives since 2015.

Nurse Midwife Betsy partners with women for thoughtful healthcare throughout their lives. Core values and guiding principles include:

Services offered:
• Well-woman care & Hormone imbalances
• Prenatal care and birth at home & Blessed Beginnings Care Center
• Postpartum care
• Newborn care for the first month of life

Betsy McCanse, CNM, has been in the “birth world” since 2003. She started her journey as a childbirth educator teaching Bradley classes, became certified as a doula through DONA, Int in 2005, and then started her trek to become a Certified Nurse Midwife through the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been practicing as a midwife in the Goshen area since 2013, providing full-scope midwifery care for women across their reproductive lifespans. Over the years she has served women at Goshen Birth Center, Goshen Hospital, Blessed Beginnings Care Center and at homes. She has guided over 600 babies and has provided labor support to those families and many others whose babies have been caught by students or ended up with cesareans. Additionally, Betsy has taken a course in Mayan Abdominal Massage Self-Care, and has certifications in K-taping for pregnancy/postpartum and clinical homeopathy. She is passionate about holding the space for women, to enable birth to be an empowering experience, and in taking part in shared decision making in healthcare throughout women’s lives. She finds year-round joy in blues and swing dancing, and tent camping in the warm months.

Hannah (Waite) and Jeff Parry of South Bend welcome daughter Calypso to the family. She was born on September 28, 2025 and weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces. She was 19.25 inches long. Hannah worked throughout the pregnancy at making the best choices for baby at every step. Congratulations Parry family!

Francis and Mary (Ganser) McDonald of North Liberty are excited to announce the birth of Pio Francis McDonald at home into his parents hands. Pio was born on September 6, 2025 at 1:38am, weighing 8 pounds, 10.6 ounces and measuring 21 inches long. Mary had to call upon her reserve of patience as her labor took a familiar course, and when it was all systems go, she was cool and calm and collected. Francis held the space for Mary throughout the course of labor. Pio had a gentle calm welcome into this world. It was a pleasure to walk with this family again through this pregnancy and birth. Congratulations, McDonald family!

Aleksandr and Liliya (Gamayunova) Shevchik of Goshen are happy to announce the birth of son Silas Alex Shevchik at Blessed Beginnings Care Center. Silas was born on August 25, 2025 at 12:53pm. He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. Lily is so in tune with her body she knew it was time to birth and made short work of it once we found the right position. Silas joins siblings Gideon, Olivia and David. It was truly a pleasure to have this family in our care again. Congratulations, Shevchik family!

Paul and Kayla (Racklyeft) Rosin of Elkhart are pleased to announce the birth of son Hezekiah Robert Rosin at home. Hezekiah was born on August 5, 2025 at 7:46pm, surrounded by family. He weighed 9 pounds, 11 ounces and was 22 inches long. Kayla was balancing a lot of things when her due date came and went. She maintained her cool and her body gifted her with a labor on trend with past labors. Hezekiah was quickly welcomed into the family by siblings Ezekiel, Malachi and Mabel. It was an honor to be part of this family's pregnancy and birth again.

Alston and Cristina (Yoder) Stoltzfus of Nappanee are happy to announce the homebirth of daughter Clara Jo Stoltzfus. Clara was born on July 22, 2025 at 11:46am into her daddy's hands. Abraham & Amanda (Glass) Gordillo of Lakeville, IN are happy to announce the homebirth of daughter Trixie Rene Gordillo. She was born on May 7, 2025 at 2:30 am into her parents hands. She was 7 pounds 5 ounces and 21.75 inches long. Birth came with an unexpected surprise but Amanda stayed calm throughout and Abraham was a solid calm presence. Trixie joins brother Theodore in filling this home with smiles and love. It was a pleasure getting to know this family! Congratulations, Gordillo family!

Forgive the VERY late posting of this. Not sure how it got missed!
Jordan Hutsell and Rachel (Wells) Hutsell of Nappanee had a beautiful homebirth of their daughter on February 25, 2025 at 7pm. She weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces and was 21.5 inches long. Though pregnancy presented some new twists this time around, birth couldn't have been lovelier with all the support gathered round. Congratulations, Hutsell family!
