Another milestone reached…
Passing 2,000 followers on the YNL FACEBOOK page was one (now 2100), hitting the 23,000 mark of recorded visitors on the YNL web site was another. We are now pleased to announce that the 2,000th subscribing household was reached recently when Larry Holderly added his newsletter subscription. Larry is the great grandson of Nancy Yoder (YR127323) and great-great of Elizabeth Yoder (YR25125) and her husband Samuel S. Yoder (1816-1905) (YR12732).
He has provided some very detailed biographical information on Samuel S., which will be added to the YNL web site, and likely the FB site as well, but for now we are glad to be able to share a photo of Larry as well as a portrait of Samuel’s family.
Welcome aboard Larry, our subscriber number 2,000!!

"His claim to fame, however, is that he served as the foreman of the jury which convicted the infamous range detective Tom Horn, and sentenced him to hang. Tom Horn was the subject of a 1980 motion picture staring Steve McQueen.According to Joan Murra, of the McCracken Research Library at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody Wyoming, Hiram's name pops up in most accounts of Tom Horn, and of the early ranchers in Wyoming. "

Thomas Horn Jr., (November 21, 1861 – November 20, 1903) was an American cowboy, scout, soldier, range detective, rodeo performer, and Pinkerton agent in the 19th-century and early 20th-century American Old West. Believed to have committed 17 killings as a hired gunman throughout the West,[2] Horn...

CONRAD PROJECT LAUNCHED!

A major announcement made at the NC National Yoder Reunion was that the NC Yoders have accepted the offer by Dr. Emily Richardson to prepare an updated descendant directory for Conrad Yoder. Emily is not only a descendant of Conrad’s nephew Melchior, but her son has married a “double descendant” of Conrad Yoder. She is beginning by concentrating on Conrad's children by his 3rd marriage to Catherine Huffman, namely:

+Con5- Elias b. Oct. 31, 1777
+Con6- Daniel b. Jun. 18, 1780
Con7- Catherine b. Dec.21, 1782 m. May 8, 1798 Lincoln Co., NC
John Baker d. Aug.3, 1867
+Con8- Adam (Yother) b. Jun.23, 1785

Descendants of these four are encouraged to reach out to Dr. Richardson with pictures and family stories (particularly about the first 6 generations down from Conrad) at: kinsearchers@gmail.com
