Portal, inc is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) agency that has been in continuous operation serving adult citizens with developmental disabilities since 1965. Portal has a proud history of advocating for and supporting individuals primarily from Ozaukee and surrounding counties. Today, Portal serves more than 200 people with disabilities, providing the supports and experiences to life more fulfilling and meaningful lives.

🎶 What a fun visit we had today with Carrie and her amazing musical talents! 🎸

One of our favorite moments was watching Ada light up while singing along to *Johnny B. Goode* — “Go go go Johnny go, go go go Johnny B. Goode!” 🎤💃 She was clapping, smiling, and completely in the moment. Moments like this remind us how powerful music can be.

🌷✨ We Can Feel Spring in the Air at Portal! ✨🌷

The sunshine is shining, the birds are chirping, and you can just feel that spring energy all around! ☀️🌼

Today was one of those PERFECT Portal days — filled with creativity, laughter, and quality time with friends. 🎨💜 We rolled up our sleeves and worked on some awesome glass projects, and let’s just say… the talent in this building is shining just as bright as the spring sun! ✨🖌️

There’s something so special about creating together — sharing ideas, encouraging each other, and celebrating every finished masterpiece. Add in great conversations and plenty of smiles, and you’ve got a pretty amazing day.

Spring vibes + creative minds + Portal friendships = a whole lot of happy. 🌸💛

🐾💜 Meet Sage — Our New Four-Legged Friend at Portal! 💜🐾

We’re paws-itively excited to introduce Sage, our new therapy dog who has been stopping by Portal to spread all the good vibes! 🐶✨

Sage LOVES visiting, soaking up belly rubs, and sharing calm, happy energy with everyone she meets. And let’s just say… our participants are absolutely over the moon for their new furry friend! 🥰🐾

There’s something truly special about pet therapy. A wagging tail can spark smiles, ease stress, encourage conversation, and create meaningful moments of connection. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful volunteers who understand just how essential and impactful these visits can be. 💕

Sage has already made herself right at home — and we have a feeling she’ll be a fast favorite around here! 🦴✨

🕺🥕💜 Healthy Snacks + Dance Moves = A Perfect Portal Day! 💜🥕🕺

Who says you can’t have a dance party during a healthy snack program?! 🎶✨ Today we were stocking snacks, ringing up sales… and busting a move or two in between! 💃🕺

Did you know our participants run the entire Healthy Snack Program from start to finish? 🙌

🛒 Monday: We head to the store to shop for healthy items.
🥨 Back at Portal, snacks are portioned and prepped for the week.
📲 Throughout the week, participants manage daily sales using an iPad with all items stored in the app.
💵 Each day, they reconcile the money.
📋 Friday: Inventory is completed… and then the cycle begins all over again!

This program builds teamwork, responsibility, money management, customer service skills — and confidence! And the best part? They truly OWN it. From shopping to sales to bookkeeping, our participants make it happen. 💪💜

Add in some music and a spontaneous dance party, and you’ve got one of our favorite programs of the week! 🎉

Healthy habits, real-world skills, and a whole lot of fun — that’s how we do it at Portal. 💜

We LOVE seeing our participants involved in hands-on learning experiences like this! There’s something so special about gathering in the kitchen, trying new recipes, building confidence, and working together as a team.

Just look at those engaged smiles — that’s the joy of learning something new! 😊✨ Cooking builds independence, creativity, and life skills… and it’s even better when you get to share it with friends.

We’re so proud of our participants for jumping in, trying new things, and making every experience their own. 💜

Fridays at Portal are extra special — it’s Show & Tell Day! 🎉

Our participants absolutely LOVE sharing the things that make them happy… whether it’s a favorite keepsake, a hobby they’re proud of, photos, collections, or something that simply brings them joy. Seeing their excitement as they tell their stories is truly the best part of our week.

And here’s the beautiful thing — when they’re happy, we’re happy. 🥰

It’s laughter, it’s connection, it’s confidence-building, and it’s community all wrapped into one fun Friday tradition. A total win-win for our Portal peeps! 🙌

Looking for a short-term opportunity with a purpose? 💜

Portal, Inc. is hiring a Part-Time Temporary Front Desk Receptionist!

Starting as soon as possible!!!

🗓 Monday–Friday
⏰ 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (can be a little flexible)
📆 Approximately 3–4 weeks

This is the perfect opportunity for someone who loves working with and supporting adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. As the welcoming face of Portal, you’ll greet visitors, log guests in, answer phones, monitor our security system, and assist with a variety of administrative tasks — all while being part of a mission-driven team making a difference every day.
