ᴡʜᴀᴛ ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄʀᴀɴɪᴀʟꜱᴀᴄʀᴀʟ ꜱʏꜱᴛᴇᴍ? ⬇ ⬇ ⬇

You might've noticed the Cranialsacral diagram I have hanging up, but for those who haven't, this gives you an idea of this complex system that is so vital to maintain.

ᴡʜʏ?

It has a long job description! It's responsible for circulating the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds your brain and spinal cord. This vital fluid immerses your brain in nurturing glucose and helps keep your central nervous system fed, clean and stable. It also transports hormones, neurotransmitters and releasing factors that help govern your body’s reaction to its environment. Physical or emotional trauma (which we all incur) can cause the fluid to become trapped, leading to even more emotional "stuckness" & this leads to physical and/ or mental pain.

Cranialsacral Therapy works to find these stagnant areas and release them, allowing the fluid to do its job & for your body to heal. 💜

Testimonial about Cranialsacral Therapy from Upledger Institute- "CST has given me (the client) the opportunity to release these past traumas and create pathways in dealing with stress and perceived threats. PTSD is absolutely a disease of dis-connection in ourselves and with others. CST is the bridge back home to self."

I have seen this first hand with my clients. If you are used to do tissue massage, it can be an interesting venture to try out CST. It is a lighter touch, but the affects are very profound. During a session you (and me) tune into your body. Where are you holding pain? What does it feel like? Is it attached to something else? And, for a lack of better words, we untwist the knot, or pressure, or whatever it might be. This brings relief. Each session is different with how far-reaching that relief is, dependent upon many things including how long you've been holding onto/ dealing with that trauma/pain. Our bodies are amazing 💜

New message up on the quote board and I wanted to share it here too. Mid-week reminder to take a step back, breathe, and remind yourself that it's okay to have "one of those days". It's okay to "fall apart". You are still valuable & important. You are still loved. 💜

This might seem like a simple (and goofy) picture, but it actually tugged at my heart strings a bit. Many of you know about John's accident from a couple years ago. He has had ongoing various treatments that each have helped in their own way. Personally it had been amazing to see how Cranialsacral Therapy had helped not only with this accident recovery physically & emotionally, but also it's helped with PTSD from his time in the army. So seeing him back working with Eyan is a personal progress report showing how effective CST is & kind of makes me want to shout it from the rooftops (pun intended 🙊)

Advice I also need to take to heart. It's hard to pause and give our body or mind the time it needs to process an emotion or an event. I'll help you try to catch things when they're "whispering", and help you navigate through the "screams". Cranialsacral therapy is so valuable in this process. If you haven't tried it yet, I encourage you to do so. 💜

📢 So excited to announce that I recently took some training in cranialsacral therapy specifically for those with Autism, ADHD & sensory processing disorders. CST has shown to provide relief & improvement in those areas. If you have a friend or family member that would benefit from this therapy, please tag them or share this post with them. If you have any questions, let me know, I'm here to help 💜

About Shannon Jimison, LMT

I am Shannon Jimison, owner of Restore Bodywork & Massage. I enrolled at Alexandar School of Natural Therapeutics in March 2010 and began learning the intriguing art and science of massage. I had been in several car collisions and childhood injuries, including a head trauma. During recovery from the last car collision, I experienced the relief that bodywork, massage and cranial sacral work brought my body. That treatment reignited in me the desire to go to massage school and bring healing and relief to others.

I have added several additional modalities to my toolbelt in an effort to be more effective in treating each client that comes through my treatment room door; Active Isolated Stretching, Cupping, Cranial Sacral, Somato Emotional Release, and Kinesio Taping.

I have a loving, supportive (and may I say handsome) husband and two adult sons that mean the world to me. I love to get my hands dirty in the garden, creating beautiful flower pots and growing some of my own herbs and vegetables. You will often find me reading, drinking a cup of coffee and snuggling one of my sweet kitties. I also enjoy volunteering in my community in various ways.
