🎗️ April is Cancer Control Month 🎗️

Breast cancer screening is one of the most powerful tools we have to catch cancer early—when it’s most treatable.

Here are general screening recommendations:
• Ages 40–44: Talk with your healthcare provider about when to start mammograms
• Ages 45–54: Get a mammogram every year
• Ages 55+: Continue yearly or switch to every 2 years
• All ages: Perform regular self-awareness checks and report any changes right away

If you have a family history or higher risk, you may need to start earlier—ask your pharmacist or provider for guidance.

We’re here to help answer your questions and support your health every step of the way. Stop by or message us anytime!

🌸 Spring Clean Your Medicine Cabinet 🌸
Spring is the perfect time to check your medicine cabinet and clear out any expired or unused medications. Keeping old medications at home can lead to accidental use, reduced effectiveness, or even safety risks.

Take a few minutes to look through your prescriptions and over-the-counter products. If something is expired, no longer needed, or you’re unsure what it’s for—it’s time to safely dispose of it. Hart Family Pharmacy even has a medication disposal box!

With National Drug Take Back Day coming up on April 25th, it’s a great opportunity to safely get rid of medications the right way. We will be open 9am to 2pm and able to dispose of your medications properly.

💡 Health Tip: Stay Active to Help Reduce Cancer Risk 💡
Regular physical activity can do more than boost your energy—it may also help lower your risk of certain cancers, including breast and colon cancer.

Staying active supports a healthy weight, helps balance hormones, strengthens your immune system, and reduces inflammation in the body—all of which play a role in overall cancer prevention.

A simple goal is to aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week, such as brisk walking, biking, or even gardening. The good news is you don’t have to do it all at once—small steps throughout the week can make a meaningful difference.

What is one way that YOU like to get in physical activity each week?

🎗️ April is Cancer Control Month 🎗️
We are highlighting another important cancer to consider getting screened for: lung cancer.
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death, but when found early, it’s much more treatable. That’s why screening matters.
📌 Current screening recommendations:
You may qualify for annual lung cancer screening if you:
✔️ Are 50–80 years old
✔️ Have a 20 pack-year smoking history (for example, 1 pack/day for 20 years)
✔️ Currently smoke OR quit within the past 15 years
🔍 Screening is done with a low-dose CT scan —a quick, non-invasive test that can detect lung cancer early.

Screening is typically stopped once someone has been smoke-free for 15 years or develops health conditions that limit treatment options. Not sure if you qualify? Our pharmacy team can help review your risk factors and guide you on next steps.

💉 Protect Against HPV with Gardasil 9 💉
HPV (human papillomavirus) is incredibly common—most people will be exposed at some point in their lives. The good news? Gardasil 9 helps protect against the HPV types that cause the majority of related cancers.
📅 What’s the vaccine schedule?
• Ages 9–14: 2 doses (given 6–12 months apart)
• Ages 15–45: 3 doses (given over 6 months)

HPV often has no symptoms, so staying on schedule with vaccination is key to getting the best protection.

📍 Visit our pharmacy to get started or continue your Gardasil 9 series—we’re here to help every step of the way!

🎗️ April is Cancer Control Month 🎗️
At Hart Family Pharmacy, we’re highlighting one of the most important steps you can take for your health: colon cancer screenings.

Current guidelines recommend that most adults start screening at age 45, or earlier if you have certain risk factors or a family history. There are several screening options available—including simple at-home tests and colonoscopies—so you can find what works best for you with your healthcare provider.
Screenings don’t just detect cancer early—they can actually help prevent it by finding and removing precancerous changes.

If you’re not sure when you’re due or which option is right for you, we’re always here to help answer your questions and guide you in the right direction.
Taking that first step could make all the difference. 💛
