New Leaf is planning a FREE chronic illness/chronic pain group also set to start in August! If you know a person struggling with a chronic condition or chronic pain, encourage them to call and we will add them to the list and send reminders as the time approaches!

Today marks an occasion that we originally planned to hold an event to honor, but we have decided to celebrate another day in the future. We have other events planned this year. We will celebrate with another big event we have slated this summer. Details on that later….

In the mean time, today is New Leaf’s 10th year in operation! Happy Birthday New Leaf!

Picture for a moment the feelings of each child in this story.

Not long ago, the question came up, “how can D&D be therapy?”

While this was not planned and may or may not have had the same safeties in place formal therapeutic based TTRPG interventions have, this was an emotionally powerful moment for every child in this example. An after session debrief with a therapist would likely have helped each child find a significant truth to work into their life.

New Leaf currently runs a group for teens on social skills and social anxiety, as well as to address depressive symptoms through social connections and behavioral activation…..

A quick note to let people know, the next social skills group using tabletop role-playing games (D&D) for teens/young adults starts November 6th at 1PM. Before a teen can join they will need a 1 on 1 session with Dr. Duncan to make a character and discuss group rules and parameters.
