Tiny hands. Big progress, one piece at a time.
Tearing and sorting paper isn’t just play. It quietly builds focus, fine motor skills, and sensory calm.
No special tools. Just paper, glue, and a few minutes together.

Not JUST another private school, and not JUST for Autism...
Our Story: In 2012 Steve and Madalyn Cano embarked on a mission to help families like their own. Raising a child with a invisible disability is one of the greatest challenges a family will experience both emotionally, spiritually and financially.
Through Lake Pointe Resource Center, the Cano's were determined to provide a way for other families to connect and feel supported within the Hood County community. LPRC provides free parenting support groups, parent training and advocacy support. LPRC is often involved in community events to raise awareness of autism and related learning differences as well as providing opportunities for highly specialized services to be available within Hood County.
Lake Pointe Academy, is purposed to provide an affordable highly specialized therapeutic school, not otherwise available within the Hood County area. We serve children ages 6 - 22. What’s unique and different is how LPA bridges evidence-based research from the neuro and cognitive sciences in teaching, learning and behavior, and embeds social, cognitive and emotional regulation interventions, along with naturalistic ABA principles for lasting behavioral change at a very low student to teacher ratio.
The Mission of Lake Pointe Resource Center & Lake Pointe Academy are important because:
1 in 59 children is identified with learning challenges rooted in Autism Spectrum disorder. This represents a 30% increase in just two years(CDC,2014, 2016, 2018).
1 in 6 school age children is challenged with an invisible learning disability such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Auditory and Visual Processing deficits, NVLD.
Many children are not provided the full scope of services they genuinely need for long-term change. Let’s face it, our public schools are awesome, yet they are not designed to be THERAPEUTIC! In addition, many student’s who don’t fit within criteria for services may be silently struggling through school. Oftentimes, this leads to depression, social problems and mis-understood behvavioral responses that become patterned behavior.
MOST OF ALL, reasearch is CLEAR: 87% of students who recieve appropriate intensive and timely intervention can build the skills they need to overcome barriers in how their “disability” may affect them over the course of their lifetime.
“Lake Pointe Granbury” fills a gap between our traditional behavioral health & education system through providing a specific and uniquely designed therapeutic education program and community resources that are centered on prevention and remediation that also includes free parent training. Our ultimate goal is to increase capacity of greatest independence after leaving the high school setting.
We receive no governmental or state funding. School Tuition is on a private pay basis. Discounts and scholarships are available and based on Grants, Corporate and Public charitable contributions. Both Organizations are independently registered 501(c)(3) corporations.
