April 19th-25th is National Infertility Awareness Week. 🧡

These statistics have led to studies on how an infertility diagnosis can affect mental health and stress levels. Jamie Hales, a licensed clinical social worker at Huntsman Mental Health Institute has remarked: "The stress level for infertility is comparable to the stress level of being diagnosed with cancer." 🧡

April is Cesarean Awareness Month. Did you know that there is an option for having a more "natural" experience while having a C-section? A "Gentle Cesarean" is a series of choices parents can make to help them feel more peaceful and empowered during their C-section birth. Asking for a clear or lowered drape to watch the birth, requesting the hospital staff explain what is happening during the surgery, and prioritizing skin-to-skin contact after the birth are just a few ways parents can help their cesarean feel more personal.

Did you know that about a third of all births in the US are Cesarean births? And that the first recorded successful C-section happened in 1500 in Switzerland? Cesarean births can require a longer recovery time and more support during postpartum--they are anything but the "easy way out". So many amazing mommas give birth via C-section each day. This April, we want to recognize the love and hard work involved in Cesarean birth and recovery, and honor the very special babies who have arrived here safe because of C-sections. 🧡

Everything is free of charge but must be claimed in-person as we cannot hold items for clients online or over the phone. 🐸❤️
