New Year, New Service!

Middle Park Health’s full-time general surgeon, Dr. Matthew Fabian, has recently introduced a new service with advanced technology for monitoring gastroesophageal pH, which can aid in the diagnosis of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).

The Bravo Reflux testing system is a capsule-based, calibration-free system that is placed using endoscopy and allows patients to maintain their regular diet and activities while carrying a wireless recorder for a few days.

To wrap up our Healthy Holidays, we have our final tip, Enjoy!

Enjoying the holidays should really be your top priority because that's what the season is all about! Enjoy the time spent with family and friends, enjoy the festivities you attend, and enjoy the happy memories both past and present.

Planning how your holidays will look, creating space and time for yourself, maintaining a healthy routine, and respecting beliefs and traditions will hopefully lead to a happy, enjoyable, and healthy holiday season.

UPDATE: The test scheduled for 2 p.m. failed. Emergency Management is adjusting settings before attempting another test message this afternoon.

Today (Monday, December 22) at 2 p.m., Grand County Emergency Management and the Grand County Sheriff's Office - Colorado will send a TEST Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) message via the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) to all wireless devices in the County Administration Building, Courthouse and the Sheriff's Office Public Safety Facility.

What This Means For You: If your phone is turned on, within range of an active cell tower and whose wireless provider participates in WEA, the phone should be capable of receiving the message. This means nearly every phone in the County Administration and Courthouse Buildings as well as the Sheriff's Office Public Safety Facility will receive the alert at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 22, which will likely set off an audible alarm for a short time. Phones in the Judicial Building as well as surrounding areas may also receive the alert.

The alert message will be: “TEST TEST TEST. This is a Test Message from Grand County Emergency Management. No action is required.”

This is only a test. There is currently no active emergency in Grand County, Colorado.

Middle Park Health has seen great growth over the last few years and our five clinic locations are proving it! Our average growth rate in the clinics is over 100% since 2023 and has allowed us to expand our services and hire more staff.

We are excited to see these positive growth percentages across Grand and Jackson counties and are happy to be able to serve so many of our community members.

We also want to thank our wonderful clinicians and clinic staff members who spend every day keeping life grand. It's their hard work and dedication that have made our clinics so successful.

Dr. Putnam's nominator described her as an extraordinary leader whose compassion and commitment shine through in everything she does. She not only delivers exceptional patient care but also uplifts her team with unwavering support and collaboration.

Her coworkers applaud her dedication to helping cover shifts while also taking great care of her own patients on top of training travelers and students. She has also taken on the task of organizing team-building activities that have uplifted the rehabilitation team.

Her actions reflect a deep sense of responsibility and a genuine desire to help—qualities that make her indispensable to the rehab department and Middle Park Health.

Our fourth Healthy Holidays Tip: Respect!

The holidays bring together a lot of different people throughout the season. We all have different perspectives on many things and there are a lot of topics that can unfortunately divide a group brought together for a typically happy occasion. It's important to try to find harmony and common ground to respect everyone's opinion which hopefully reduces any stress and negativity.

Additionally, respecting what holidays everyone recognizes and how they celebrate their own traditions can make for a more welcoming and accepting atmosphere which makes celebrating together even more special.

To reinforce what was said for our first tip, Plan, it's okay to set boundaries for yourself and say no. There's usually a long list of commitments during the holidays and you don't have to say yes to them all. Respecting your own time and safeguarding your mental health should be a priority.

Respect others and respect yourself this holiday season to help spread the love and joy this time of year brings.
