Peggy Jannice Peters (Brakel), age 55, passed away on January 27, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama. Born on September 10, 1970, in Lakenheath, England, Peggy brought joy and sparkle to every life she touched.
Peggy's vibrant spirit was perhaps most evident during her more than ten years of service at Waffle House. Her dedication to the community and her workplace was unmatched. She volunteered to work every holiday season and took great pride in decorating the restaurant's entryway, always aiming to brighten the day of everyone who walked through the door. Her infectious smile and boundless energy made her a beloved figure among coworkers and customers alike,
Peggy is survived by her parents, Thomas (Kathy) Brakel; her siblings, Kenneth Brakel, Kevin Brakel, Sheila (Brian) Tremain, and Phillip (Curtra) Whitton; her children, Carly Brakel (Jordan Golemon), Kelsi (Marcos) Mendoza, and Jared (Nikki) Brakel; and her cherished grandchildren, Emma Jean and Evelynne, She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews as well as many close family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother Gloria Jean Lyons and step-father Anthony Lyons, with whom she now reunites.
Peggy had a zest for life that radiated through her many hobbies. She enjoyed gardening-proudly nurturing plants with what she called a "semi-green thumb"-and had a fondness for collecting pig figurines and stuffed animals. Her love for pigs was well-known among those close to her. She also collected coins and found peace in zen coloring during quiet evenings. Some of her happiest monfents were spent reading stories or playing games with her granddaughters during their daily "bubble walks" and other joyful shenanigans.
Known for her cheerfulness and kindness, Peggy left a trail of glitter wherever she went-literally. Whether it adorned gifts, outfits, or shoes, glitter became one of the many ways she expressed her bright personality.
May Peggy's memory continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 5, 2026, from 04:00 PM to 06:00 PM at GrandBay Ministries 14282 Old Pascagoula Rd. Service is open to anvone who would like to attend.
