This week is recognized as National Veterinary Receptionist week. This week we take extra care to celebrate the veterinary receptionists that serve a critical role in the chain of animal health care.
Our reception team is a pet family's first and last point of contact during veterinary visits. Veterinary receptionists act as a conduit for information flow between clients, veterinarians, and other support staff. The information they provide to clientele is invaluable.
The ability to really make a difference in the life of a pet and the pet's family is an everyday reality for those who hold this position. Pet owners often confide things in veterinary receptionists that they do not feel comfortable sharing with other medical staff. Being on the 'front lines' also gives veterinary receptionists a unique stage from which to advocate for good pet health and well-being.
They have a difficult job. Receptionists must constantly multitask to make sure that all pet families are being attended to properly, whether that communication be in person, over the phone, or over messaging software. There is rarely a day that goes by without the phone lines lighting up all together indicating multiple incoming calls. It is not any easy job, and it is not everyone who has the ability to do it.
We at Grand Blanc Veterinary Hospital wish to give a well deserved thanks to all our reception team as well as those of our staff that have the ability to fill in when needed. Your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed!
