We had a wonderful evening attending the Annual Dinner fundraiser for The ROCK Center for Youth Development in Midland. 💙
Organizations like The ROCK play such an important role in our community by creating safe, supportive spaces where teens can build confidence, relationships, and life skills. As mental health professionals, we deeply value the work being done to support young people and help them feel seen, supported, and connected.
We’re grateful to be part of a community that cares so deeply about its youth.

For Danielle Lied-McGarey, self-care means stepping into nature and giving herself space to breathe deeply. In the quiet stillness of the woods, she finds calm, presence, and a chance to reconnect with simplicity. These moments help her return to her work grounded, centered, and ready to support her clients with clarity and compassion.
We’re grateful to have Danielle on our team and excited to continue highlighting how our therapists nurture their own well-being. 💚
After a long day at work, Heather loves coming home to her four dogs who eagerly await her return. “My dogs provide me with so much unconditional love, snuggles, and puppy kisses. They help me let go of the worries and stressors of the day, be present, and have fun. Love my girls!” 💕
Taking time to connect with the things that bring us joy like furry companions is an important part of recharging and showing up fully for others.

“Self-care for myself means remembering to take a moment, just because you can.” Chrissie Jostock, LPC
Chrissie reminds us that sometimes self-care doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as pausing, breathing, and noticing the world around you.
Whether it’s taking a quiet moment outdoors or finding stillness between sessions, Chrissie models the kind of gentle presence she encourages in her clients.

Meet Christina Arsenault, LPC from our Grand Blanc office! She’s sharing one of her favorite ways to practice self-care and mindfulness. 😌
Self-care means finding ways to ground myself. I love to spend time snuggled up with my dog and a good book, focusing on my five senses to ground myself back into the present moment.
✋🏼 My mini dachshund has the absolute softest and silkiest fur. I love the weight of his warm body on my lap or next to me.
😋 I will never turn down a hot cup of coffee… pumpkin right now!
👃 I smell my favorite pumpkin apple scented candle burning on the side table.
👂 I hear birds chirping and leaves blowing outside the window.
👀 I look around and see my Fall decor which always makes me so happy.
Take a few minutes and walk through your five senses to ground yourself back into the present moment today.

Slippers, sunshine, and a little fall therapy ☀️
Sometimes grounding looks like soft clothes, sunlight through the window, and permission to just be.
This season, I’m reminding myself (and maybe you too) that self-care doesn’t have to be fancy. It’s about finding comfort, presence, and the simple things that bring peace. 🧘♀️
What small rituals help you feel grounded lately? 🍂

Reclaiming Futures Counseling, LLC was created to help children, families, and adults manage life stressors that disrupt the ability to effectively cope and emotionally regulate. Significant, persistent stress or trauma can lead to a sense of hopelessness and helplessness for the future.
Several evidence-based trauma-focused intervention models (listed below) are offered to families and children from birth to 18. Interventions are also available for adults who have experienced a stressful life event as a child or adult.
Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is an attachment based model for infants from birth to 5 that have experienced at least one traumatic event and are experiencing mental health, attachment, and/or behavioral problems.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is offered to children ages 5-17 that have been impacted by trauma. Research demonstrates that TF-CBT successfully resolves numerous emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with trauma.
Child Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI) is a brief, early intervention for children ages 7 to 18 that reduces traumatic stress reactions and the onset of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Structured Sensory Interventions for Traumatized Children, Adolescents, and Parents (SITCAP) uses drawing and other sensory activities to tell one’s story in the presence of a safe, curious witness.
