I did it!!! You are looking at the newest certified lactation specialist!!

This course has been so fun. A full week, 40 hours, learning, growing, and having fun!!

I was so nervous to take my final exam. It's been years since I have taken a timed test in a testing setting.

I came prepared with a prayer in my heart.
I took a deep breath, carefully read through each question, and I DID It!! I Passed with great relief and empowerment!! I can do hard things and so can you!!

Men, this is important.
If your partner is still breastfeeding,
she’s still in her postpartum period.

Breastfeeding isn’t just about milk.
It changes her hormones.
It reshapes her brain.
Literally.

Prolactin rises, making her more alert, more tuned in to the baby’s needs.
Estrogen and progesterone stay low,
which can mean:
less energy
mood swings
trouble sleeping
a lower desire for intimacy

So if she seems emotional, sensitive, or completely wrapped up in the baby
it’s not that she’s “moody.”
It’s not that she’s “changed.”
It’s physiology.

Every single day,
she’s nourishing a baby with her body,
responding to their cues,
and quietly trying to rebuild herself.

Dads, this is your moment.
Show up.

Hold her.
Hold the baby.
Make the meal.

Be a safe place.
Be an equal parent.
Because your baby doesn’t just need a strong mama they need both of you. 🖤

Had the opportunity to assist midwife Paige Pederson with a beautiful birth last night/ early this morning. It is amazing to see midwives at work. They truly care so much for their birthing mamas. I love this work.

Another wonderful birth last night assisting Midwife Mykl. Although baby couldn't wait for the birth team to arrive. He wanted daddy to catch him all on his own.

I was the first to arrive, 25 mins after baby was born. The room was peaceful when I walked in, mama all tucked into bed with baby in her arms.

I got the opportunity to help mama deliver her placenta. It was so neat. Mom, Dad and Baby did a fantastic job.

I am so grateful for all I am learning along my birth work journey. Can't wait for the next birth!!
