Congratulations to GFGSC’s executive director Julie Erickson on receiving the UND Torchbearer Award for Innovative and Community Impact! This honor recognizes her leadership and meaningful impact on our community, and we couldn’t be more proud! Your dedication continues to inspire everyone around you!

As reported in the Grand Forks Herald, the College of Education and Human Development at the University of North Dakota has announced the inaugural class of recipients of the esteemed Torchbearer Award - CEHD's highest honor.

Innovation and Community Impact: Julie Erickson, Executive Director of the Grand Forks Growth and Support Center

Mentorship: Yee Han Chu, Academic Support and Fellowship Opportunities Coordinator at UND

Posthumous: Wesley Waage, the first president of Fergus Falls Junior College (now the Minnesota State Community and Technical College at Fergus Falls)

All winners will be honored at a special ceremony in April 2026.

💗💜Oh what a WONDERFUL night!! Growth Gala 2026 was an evening filled with love, laughter, generosity, spirit and joy! The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was amazing and the message from the speakers was filled with a heartfelt message of hope for another successful summer of The Roots program! The Giving Tree was filled by the end of the night by those that attended! Thank you to Eric and Toby Ripley for being charismatic Masters of Ceremonies, to Jessie Erickson for speaking about the mission of Grand Forks Growth and Support Center and to David and Rosemary Flynn for sharing their family story and journey! A huge shout out to the UND Men’s Golf Team for volunteering at our event! We wrapped up the evening with a dance party listening to the band, 8th Hour! The funds raised at this event supports The Roots Program! We deeply appreciate all who attended and spent the beautiful evening with us! 💜🩷

Our Story

Grand Forks Growth and Support Center (GFGSC), formerly known as Agassiz Enterprises, has been part of the Grand Forks community for 42 years. GFGSC is a facility based Day Program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The mission statement of GFGSC is “Fostering growth and enriching lives through progress, purpose and passion.”

In July of 2017, Julie Erickson took over as the new director and big changes started to happen. Along with the name change came lots of updates to the building and programming! We look forward to more positive changes and growth in 2018!
