Something truly special is unfolding at Woodside Village. 💚
We are honored to be partnering with Arts for Life Program through the ND Council on the Arts to complete a project that goes far beyond art.
In the beginning stages of this project it’s clear that our efforts will be about connection. Together, we will be creating beautifully crafted “Where I’m From” poems for residents and their families, with each individual poem shaped by stories, memories, and moments that make every person who they are.
The poetry itself is meaningful, yes — but it’s really the process that holds the ❤️ of this project.
The conversations.
The time spent sitting together.
Listening.
Reflecting.
Gathering those thoughtful, tender details that might otherwise stay tucked away for a resident. There is something deeply special about slowing down to reminisce, to think about the past, and to honor a lifetime of experiences.
The finished poem will be the frosting with sprinkles on top. ✨
But the true gift is the time spent visiting, sharing, remembering, and truly seeing one another.
After just one week we are beyond thankful and grateful for the Valley volunteers who have generously committed their time to this project and to the partners at UND in the Occupational Therapy department who will be assisting each week, having the conversations, and sharing the memories that are so special to residents from Woodside Village.
This project is about connectedness. About storytelling. About creating space for voices to be heard and lives to be celebrated. We are so grateful to be part of something that reminds us how powerful it is to simply sit together and share our stories.
We can’t wait to continue to share our progress with the “Where I’m From” project!
