Every year, a little bit of holiday magic begins with Wendy from Valley on Columbia. 💚
Wendy has a tradition that comes straight from the heart during the holiday season: she makes a warm and fuzzy blanket for every student in the Grand Forks Head Start classroom at Valley on 42nd. A blanket made just for them so each student can be warm, cozy, and feel truly wrapped up in love. Wendy spends time raising funds to buy the fleece and carefully selects patterns and designs that are thoughtfully chosen for pre-school students.
But a project like this takes more than one set of hands. This year, Wendy reached out to students in Grand Forks, and the call was answered by an incredible leadership group from Red River High School. These students showed up during Rider Time with open hearts, ready hands, and a spirit of service that truly defines what leadership looks like. Wendy started the morning by sharing more about herself and about servant leadership.
Knot by knot, blanket by blanket, laughter and kindness filled the hallway at Red River High School when the blankets were being assembled in early December. So many hands working together for something bigger than themselves. ❤️
Thank you to this amazing group of true leaders for giving your time, your energy, and your compassion to make this project a reality. Because of you, children in the Head Start classroom feel warmth this winter — not just from a blanket, but from knowing they are safe, cared for, and surrounded by love.
Giving. Caring. Togetherness. Thank you, Wendy, for your drive and determination to continue this annual project and thank you youth leaders for stepping in with the support needed to make this a reality in 2025/2026! ✨
