Future healthcare heroes in the making 💚

Last weekend, more than 50 middle and high school students joined us for Scrubs Camp, spending their Saturday exploring careers in healthcare. From getting hands-on with medical equipment to trying on personal protective equipment, these students experienced what it's like to be part of a care team.

We're proud to help inspire the next generation of caregivers, and make a difference for our community, with our partner Lake Region State College.

We’re proud to partner with JLG Architects on the expansion of the Altru Behavioral Health Center, a project helping address the need for mental health care in our region. 💚

This facility reflects our commitment to expanding access, reducing stigma, and creating spaces designed for healing, dignity, and connection. Together, we’re building a stronger future for behavioral health.

Behind every social worker is a reason: a story, a moment, or an experience that inspired them to help others. 💚

We asked members of our Behavioral Health team what inspired them to become social workers, and their answers are a reminder of the compassion and purpose they bring to their work every day.

Thank you to our social workers for the support, advocacy and care you provide across our organization and community.

Spring running season is here — but don’t let injuries slow you down. 🏃‍♂️🌱

As the weather warms up, many runners jump back in too fast, leading to common overuse injuries like shin splints, Achilles pain, and knee issues. Most of these injuries are preventable.

A smart approach now can keep you running all season long.

Strong runners don’t just run. They train smart. 🏃‍♂️💪

Whether you’re gearing up for race season or just hitting the pavement more often, adding strength work to your routine can help improve performance and reduce injury risk.

Our Physical Therapy team at Altru is breaking down a few key exercises every runner should know:
✔️ Single-leg lateral stepdowns
✔️ Rear foot elevated lunges/standard lunges
✔️ Single-leg bridge
✔️ Side plank with leg raise
✔️ Single-leg heel raises
✔️ Single-leg deadlifts

These movements help build strength, stability, and balance where runners need it most.
