Ever wondered why your acupuncturist asks to see your tongue before your session?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, your tongue is like a little map of what’s happening inside your body. Just a quick look and it can reveal patterns your body is trying to communicate.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
-Color can point to things like energy levels, heat, or circulation.
-Coating: A thick, thin, dry, or greasy coating can give clues about digestion, hydration, and internal balance.
-Shape: Swollen, scalloped, or thin tongues can reflect things like nutrient absorption, fluid balance, and overall vitality.
-Cracks or markings: These can hint at long-term patterns in the body, like stress, digestion, or yin deficiency.
All of this helps us understand what your body needs before placing a single needle.
Pretty cool, right?
