Maria Guadalupe Arrieta-Molina

Maria “Lupe” was born in El Paso, Texas on October 10, 1962 to Jose and Dionicia “Nicha” Arrieta. She grew up in the Riverside neighborhood of Grand Junction, CO, attended Riverside Elementary School, Scenic Elementary School, West Middle School, and graduated from Grand Junction High School.

She was proud of her career as an insurance agent and owned several agencies throughout her career. Lupe married Daniel “Danny” Molina, the love of her life, on October 8, 2008. Aside from spending time with her husband and family, Lupe also loved dancing, shopping on QVC, and traveling. She created Ballet Folklorico Raices, where she used her passion for dancing to teach ballet folklorico to members of the community.

Lupe had a deep affection for youth, and spent years as a youth group leader at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She also provided foster care for youth over the years and many of them held a special place in her heart.

While we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in the fact that she is reunited with her parents and other relatives who have passed away.

She is preceded in death by her parents and father in law. She is survived by her husband Danny, mother in law Guadalupe, son James (Aimee), son Stephen, daughter Yolanda, Danny’s daughter Elcy Daniela (Isaias), sister Graciela “Grace” (Marion), sister Griselda, brother Jose “Joe” (Candy), Danny’s siblings, 10 nieces, 13 nephews, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Viewing (9:30 AM), Rosary (11 AM), and Funeral (12 PM) for Lupe will be on Friday February 27, 2026 all at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The burial (Orchard Mesa Cemetery) and celebration of life will follow.

Steve Roy Workman

Never in a million years did we expect to have to say goodbye to our dad this soon… this way… Our daddy, our hero, our biggest supporter passed away peacefully Thursday night (2/19/26) surrounded by love. We lost an incredible man but heaven gained an incredible angel.

Our dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer, a very rare and very aggressive form of cancer almost a year ago this month. When we found out the news about his diagnosis, we were crushed, our world shattered before our eyes. The reality of this type of cancer was scary. Very little treatment options and an average of 3 to 6 months to live.. Our daddy started treatment immediately, ready to FIGHT and that’s exactly what he did for as long as he could. This last year he fought hard despite many more serious health obstacles he faced. He fought for himself and more so for our family. He never gave up hope. We got more time together than we expected and for that, we are so grateful. Selfishly we wanted much more time together. This disease may have taken his body, but it NEVER took his spirit.

Our dad was the most incredible man, truly one of a kind. He was generous - always willing to help others, hilarious and silly - oh how he made us laugh and so quick on his feet, an animal lover - animals were always drawn to him, a hard worker- retiring from USPS as a mail carrier after 37 years, and a family man - He LOVED us girls (Jill his wife and daughters, Kelsey and Bryenna) and LOVED his precious grandbabies (Wesson and Stetson).

Our dad was our biggest fan and always supported us, never judged, always listened. We have been blessed to have had such an amazing man guide us, teach us, and be a role model for how we should love each other, be there for each other, support each other.

Oh how we are going to miss this man, his smile, his blue eyes, his laugh, just his presence. There is a hole in our hearts that will never heal, but we will slowly start to build around it. Our dad is in a much better place and doing what he loved, anything outdoors including camping, hunting and fishing with his brother Dan.

Even though he isn’t with us physically, we know he will always be here with us, watching over us until we are together again. What a special day that will be when we are all reunited. Until then, we will keep his memory alive, share stories, and remember the amazing times we have shared together. We love you daddy and we miss you.

Our dad didn’t want any services, he wanted everyone to remember him for who he was, cherish the memories and times you had with him. Please make any donations to HopeWest. They were amazing and took incredible care of our dad.

L. Loyette Bertroch

Lynetta Loyette Bertroch, 73, took the Lord’s hand on Jan. 27, ending her battle with cancer. Born in Glenwood Springs, she entered the world at a dangerously low birth weight and the lone survivor of a set of twins. A host of friends and family “Guardian Angels” tended to the tiny newborn around the clock. She remained petite and resilient her whole life.

“My Babe” to her father, John Bertroch; “Ette” to her mother, Alveda Bertroch; and beloved little sister to Alveda, Annie and Alden, she was known as Loyette to most people. Raised in Gypsum, Loyette was active in 4-H and Rainbow Girls. When she wasn’t camping or arrowhead- hunting with her family, Loyette could be found sledding on Red Hill with her sisters and brother or trouncing house-to-house with neighborhood friends.

Loyette spent her adult life in Palisade. Her attention to detail and sharp memory made her a successful security officer. She worked first at Walker Field Airport, then for 15 years at the Department of Energy compound on Orchard Mesa. Later in life, Loyette became a favorite Avon lady—dispensing mood-lifting Sweet Honesty cologne and Pink Berry lipstick.

From her marriage to Gary Sheley, Loyette had son Patrick Sheley. Loyette and Patrick remained close friends and mutual caregivers over decades, with their shared sass and humor lifting each other up. Patrick was alongside her providing support during her cancer treatment.

A loyal friend, Loyette had long-lasting friendships and was close to her Bertroch cousins. Many happy weekends, too, were spent with family at her parents’ Glade Park cabin. Crafting was a favorite hobby, and Loyette had a deep and abiding relationship with the Lord.

Loyette was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

Upon receiving her cancer diagnosis, Loyette remarked, “It’s all in the Lord’s hands.” Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Palisade Cemetery, 3529 Front St. Afterward, friends and family are invited to gather for a noon luncheon and remembrance at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse, 3076 E ½ Road, Grand Junction.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated toward Loyette’s funeral expenses in care of: Patrick Sheley, P.O. Box 385, Palisade, CO, 81526. Or, Loyette can be honored through a donation to HopeWest Hospice at hopewestco.org or a donated item to Heirlooms for Hospice, 635 Main St.

Robert Eugene Unfred

Robert Eugene Unfred, a beloved figure in the Grand Junction community and an embodiment of kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on September 18, 1932, in Grand Junction, Colorado, Robert's life was marked by his deep commitment to family, his outstanding career, and a wealth of cherished memories that will endure in the hearts of those who loved him.

A proud graduate of Fruita Monument High School, Robert went on to serve his country as an Airman 1st Class in the United States Air Force. His dedication during his military service laid the groundwork for the hardworking spirit he carried throughout his life. After returning home, Robert became a master plumber and contractor, making significant contributions to his community by building subdivisions and serving as a plant manager at St. Mary's Hospital. His expertise in his trade earned him respect and admiration, as he was known not only for his skills but also for his warm and inviting demeanor.

Robert's true legacy, however, lies in the love and devotion he shared with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Betty Mae Unfred, who stood by his side through life’s journey. Together, they cultivated a beautiful family, including their son Ron (Lee Ann) Unfred, daughter Trish Tornes (Darrell Robison), and son Kirby (Peri Ann) Unfred. Robert was a doting grandfather to 10 grandchildren, and a proud great-grandfather to 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his big heart.

His siblings, who survive him, include brothers Lloyd (Cathy Rosal) Unfred and Floyd (Maggie) Unfred, and sister Doris Arcieri, who were blessed to share countless moments with Robert over the years. He was the cherished uncle to many, and his extended family often looked up to him as a father or grandfather figure, reflecting the deep affection and esteem in which he was held by all.

Robert created a plethora of joyful memories, one of which was making almond toffee with his family—an experience filled with laughter, love, and boundless sweetness. His interests, which included fishing, gardening, caring for Koi fish ponds, and maintaining vibrant fish aquariums, reflect his deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and the joy of nurturing life. He was a man who took pleasure in the simple things and shared that joy generously.

His big heart, unwavering kindness, and the legacy of love he leaves behind will continue to inspire all who had the fortune of knowing him. Rest in peace, dear Robert. Your warmth will be missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
