Community Hospital was pleased to once again host area high school students for the 2026 Health Care Career Day! On Wednesday, March 11, approximately 45 high school students visited Community Hospital to learn about various roles and responsibilities of health care professionals.

The students followed a fictitious scenario of three patients after they sustain injuries following a car accident caused by a possible fentanyl overdose. To launch this scenario, the students heard a simulated radio call from an ambulance team en route to the hospital and then had the opportunity to observe emergency medicine practice once the patients reached the hospital.

During the half day event, students followed the injured patients through a simulated clinical pathway, exposing them to various interactive learning disciplines.

There was a total of nine 15-minute presentations by medical and surgical nursing staff, including emergency department staff, intensive care unit, operating room staff, radiology, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation services, laboratory and the autopsy suite.

Thank you to all the staff members who helped make this day a success!
