It may seem simple, but handwashing is one of the most effective ways to keep you and your family healthy this season. 🧼
Why it matters
• Fall and winter are peak seasons for colds, flu, RSV, and stomach viruses because more time is spent indoors and germs spread more easily.
• Holiday gatherings, school activities, and travel mean more shared spaces, shared toys, and shared snacks.
• Cold, dry weather can irritate skin, making it easier for germs to stick around if hands are not washed properly.
• Many common winter viruses spread before symptoms appear, so clean hands help protect others even when you feel fine.
When to wash hands:
• Before eating or preparing food
• After using the bathroom or changing diapers
• After blowing noses, coughing, or sneezing
• After playing with pets or touching garbage
• Anytime hands are visibly dirty
