We’re excited about this! A win for families in GR.

✨ Big news for birth support in Grand Rapids! ✨

After many years of advocacy, Butterworth Hospital is once again welcoming doulas into the OR to support clients during cesarean births starting in February 2026! 💛

We’re overjoyed that families will now have continuous doula support from labor, through surgery, and into recovery. Every birth deserves compassionate, familiar care, and this change means we can continue walking alongside our clients even when their journey takes a little side quest.

This is a huge win for birth equity, emotional safety, and the beautiful work of continuity of care. 💫

We’re excited to introduce Lauren McFall! Lauren began her birth doula training in 2023 with Jessica English of Birth Kalamazoo and has accompanied us to several births as an apprentice. As we’ve gotten to know Lauren over the past year, it is clear to us that a career as a birth doula perfectly complements her skills, personality, and natural intuition. We know that many people will benefit greatly from Lauren’s support and are excited for what’s to come!

Lauren is currently completing certification through DONA International and accepting clients at a temporary discounted rate.

My name-tag showed up today with my brand new dual credential! I am now a DONA Certified Postpartum Doula (in addition to being a Certified Birth Doula since 2017).

I started postpartum cert at the beginning of the pandemic and I’m so glad I was able to complete the process and offer this service to our clients.

This is one of the most significant skills anyone supporting a Mother in labor can hold. The very "skill" of riding the waves with a laboring woman while leaving her undisturbed is the best way to help her through. A well versed doula or midwife can simply observe a laboring woman, the way she moves her body, the sounds she makes, and fully understand her progress in labor without ever touching her or speaking to her.
