A quick health/business update,

You may remember that I started suffering chronic severe migraines after the severe cerebrospinal fluid leak I had a few days after the emergency surgery in March 2023 to decompress my spinal cord. Unfortunately, the way my migraines work, and the way my connection to Spirit works, I'm not able to provide tarot readings while I have a migraine. I am under the care of a neurologist now, and it is a lot easier to plan my life now than it was this time last year, but my migraines are still easily triggered enough that it makes it difficult to schedule readings.

I also never fully recovered from that post-op right hand injury I had in March 2024, not only do I still experience severe nerve pain at the injury site, I've also developed a cyst at the joint that's pushing on the nerves. That makes handling my cards very painful.

Right now, I am only scheduling one 45 minute reading per day. I will only read for one person within those 45 minutes. I am not doing parties, nor am I keeping regular hours anywhere.

Hello! You probably noticed that I’ve been absolutely silent. For months.

My body decided I needed a long break from doing readings. I had an accident after my hand surgery that damaged the nerves in my right hand, particularly the nerves that make my thumb work. And you can’t shuffle cards without a thumb. This happened just as perimenopause hit me hard with chronic migraines, which make it impossible for me to use my psychic intuition when they flare. I’ve been doing individual readings here and there as I can tolerate, but I’m no longer able to read for parties or events, or keep open hours anywhere.

I’m waiting for another SSI Disability court date likely sometime in the spring, which of course means I’ve been almost completely without income for the past eight months. I’m two weeks into healing as of today - the stitches came out this morning! My hand is still weak and sore, but I realized I could use a shuffling technique that isn’t my go-to, but that works great for one card readings in particular.

Hello! It’s been a week since my right hand surgery, and things are going well! It was apparent that the surgery worked once the numbing agents wore off, so I just have to heal from the surgery itself and I should be all set. Stitches come out a week from today, and in five weeks I’ll do it all over again with the left hand 🫲

The thing that I did not expect or plan for was that I took in a foster kitten for Fig and Friends Pet Rescue last Friday, too! My surgeon did give me a 3-5lb weight limit (the kitten weighed in at 9.8 ounces this morning, well within range), and told me to use the hand as normally as the pain allows… having a tiny kitten to feed certainly helps me keep my hand limber!

I’m naming him Milo the Mighty Mite 💪🏼💪🏼 He’s five weeks old today, but he’s the size of a two week old kitten. He has some neuro issues, but his lungs are strong and he has a massive roar! He also loves to explore, and to cuddle. And I can’t give him up. He’s going to need close care, and being disabled myself, I’m in a good position to do that.

Now, normally I’d pull out my cards and announce a Facebook reading special to pay for his adoption fees and vet bills… but while I can manage a baby bottle just fine, everything about shuffling cards pulls at my stitches and causes pain at the surgical site.

Here’s a good example of how to ask the tarot a question effectively.

A friend on my personal account posted this recently:

“I bet if we pulled a tarot card for the current state of the world, we'd pull The Tower.”

I quote this, because when I decided to test this theory, I used that exact wording, “the current state of the world.” My deck took the question very literally - The Queen of Coins. The world, our Mother Earth, is abundant.

That answers the question, sure… but doesn’t answer the question I was trying to ask at all.

So, I rephrased - “the current state of the socio-economic-political situation in the world.” There we go. The Nine of Coins, reversed. We don’t realize the abundance we have. And we mishandle what we do comprehend. Ope.

I then asked about the current socio-economic-political state of the US. The Five of Coins is very on the nose. We feel left out as the rest of the world is progressing.

I had to ask for a “what’s next” card after all that. The Ace of Swords in this deck (The Tarot of the Divine) is associated with the Gordian Knot. We need to figure it out however we can and move forward. Swords/air represent the intellect, it’ll take some big thinkers with some brash ideas that go against convention.

tl;dr: if you’re getting a reading, and the cards don’t seem to make sense, consider how you asked the question, and rephrase it if needed. This is an art, not a science.
