This is something I get asked more than you’d think, and the answer isn’t as simple as yes or no.

This work is heavy. It’s emotional. It requires presence, attunement, and the ability to sit with people in their hardest moments.

And also… it’s one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever done.

We get to witness people heal, grow, and come back to themselves. ❤️

That’s not something we take lightly.

He’s a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for working with adolescents, young adults, and families. With nearly a decade of experience supporting youth, he views this work as a true calling, helping create lasting change and preventing future suffering.

Max’s background includes working in pediatric care at Mary Free Bed and supporting at-risk youth in school settings. He holds a degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Central Michigan University.

His approach is integrative and holistic, drawing from psychodynamic, person-centered, CBT, and strengths-based frameworks, always tailored to the individual.

✨As a trauma therapist, one of the biggest things I see misunderstood is this:

People pathologize themselves…when they’re actually responding to an activating relationship.

Your nervous system is constantly tracking:
👉 safety
👉 consistency
👉 emotional predictability

And when those aren’t present, your body adapts.

That adaptation can look like:
🌱 anxiety
🌱 ADHD symptoms
🌱 emotional reactivity
🌱 difficulty focusing

But it’s not always a disorder.

Sometimes it’s your environment.

And when that environment changes…you finally get to see your true baseline. ❤️

That’s not coincidence. That’s regulation.

I see nervous systems that adapted to survive environments where safety wasn’t consistent.

And I see how those patterns follow people into adulthood, into relationships, work, and how they relate to themselves.

But here’s the truth:
✨ You are not broken
✨ Your patterns are not random
✨ And healing is absolutely possible

It just requires the right lens and the right support.
