It doesn’t mean you’re “disconnected” or “not emotional enough.” It means your body is protecting you — doing what it’s always done to help you feel safe.

Crying in therapy requires trust, regulation, and safety — and your nervous system may still be learning that it’s finally okay to let go.

Healing isn’t about forcing emotion; it’s about helping your body remember that it’s safe to feel.

You don’t have to rush the process. The tears will come when your system feels ready. 🌿

You’re not weak. You’re not overreacting. You’re remembering what it feels like to have your emotions witnessed — maybe for the first time.

Apologizing for tears is often a trauma response — a learned protection from years of being told your feelings were too much. In therapy, your body starts to unlearn that story.

It begins to trust that emotion = safe. 🫶

So if you cry in session… don’t rush to apologize.
You’re not breaking down — you’re breaking through.

“I don’t want my therapist to think I’m crazy”?✨

That thought alone holds a whole story.
It’s not vanity or insecurity — it’s your nervous system remembering what it felt like to be judged, shamed, or misunderstood.

When you care what your therapist thinks,
you’re not just reacting to the present moment —
you’re re-experiencing the past conditions of safety and belonging.

Therapy is relational exposure work.
It’s where you learn, slowly and gently, that you can be fully seen — and still loved.
That you can bring your messy, unfiltered parts into the light and still belong.

It’s not weakness to care.
It’s your system testing:
“Can I be safe and connected at the same time?”

That’s not regression — it’s healing. 🌿
