We are so excited to welcome Annie Lesky to our team here at Restore! Here is a little more about her:

🟣 If you could only have one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
Mint chocolate chip ice cream 🍦

🟣 You have 30 minutes for self care, how are you going to spend that half hour?
I would head outside for a walk through the woods 🌲

🟣 What did you want to be when you grew up?
For a long time I wanted to be a veterinarian, but in high school I realized I was much more passionate about helping people.

🟣 How did your journey lead you to Restore?
I recently moved to Grand Rapids and was searching for a practice that provided a supportive environment with opportunities for growth. Restore provides exactly that! I am excited to join a team of professionals who are eager to share their knowledge and experiences.

📚 Mothers Who Can't Love by Susan Forward, PhD
✨ Restore therapist and Supervisor, Krystal Lacoy, reflects on today's book recommendation:
Susan Forward’s book Mothers Who Can't Love has become one of my most recommended resources for clients grappling with the lifelong effects of a toxic or neglectful relationship with their mother. This is more than a book; it is a source of validation. For many clients, their first experience with this book is one of profound relief. They finally see their experiences reflected on the page, and the sense of isolation and self-blame begins to fade. The book effectively dismantles the societal myth of the universally loving mother, giving clients permission to acknowledge their pain and begin the process of unlearning harmful coping mechanisms. More importantly, it provides practical, actionable strategies for moving forward. Even if you just get through the introduction, it’s worth a read.

📚 Secure Love by Julie Menanno
✨ Morgan Peterson reflects on today's book recommendation:
I follow this author on Instagram and was gifted the book by a family member. On the surface, this book is extremely helpful for conceptualizing the work I do with couples. It gives practical tips and plenty of education using attachment theory and emotionally focused therapy. However, what I liked most about this book was how much it prompted self-reflection in me! Improving our relationships with others often prompts a lot of work within ourselves, and this book sparked curiosity for me both in my relationships and as an individual.
