Familiar faces. Safe spaces. Warm embraces. That’s what makes the moments feel like home. This wasn’t just a gathering — it was a reminder of what love looks like in real time. The kind that holds you, sees you, and celebrates you without condition. Family isn’t always about blood — it’s about the people who show up, pour in, and leave you better. Grateful for every hug, every laugh, and every gentle reminder that we don’t have to do life alone.

Breastfeeding Isn’t Just a Personal Choice, It’s a Public Health Equity Issue.

According to the CDC, fewer non-Hispanic Black infants (74.1%) are ever breastfed compared to Asian (90.8%), White (85.3%), and Hispanic (83.0%) infants.

And it gets deeper:
Babies who are eligible for WIC but don’t receive it are more likely to be breastfed (85.6%) than those who do receive WIC (74.7%). That number jumps even higher for those not eligible at all (91.2%).

Translation? The systems that are supposed to support families are falling short—especially for Black families.

Breastfeeding support needs to be culturally congruent, accessible, and free of judgment. It’s not just about milk—it’s about justice, legacy, and health outcomes for generations.

“Is my baby hungry?” Let’s talk feeding cues—your baby’s first language. Before the tears, they’re already telling you they’re ready to eat!

Look for these signs:
• Early cues: lip smacking, sucking on hands, rooting (turning head toward touch)
• Active cues: fussing, squirming, bringing hands to mouth
• Late cue: crying (by then they’re hangry)

Responding to early cues builds trust, keeps feeding calm, and supports bonding.

What feeding cues can you spot in this video/photo? Drop your answers below! Let’s build our baby body language skills together. 💬👇🏾

Feeding is a conversation. You just have to learn their dialect.
