For those of you wondering about results from the research we started in the summer of 2024:
Preliminary results are showing statistically significant decreased heart rate and increased heart rate variability. BUT, in subjects who were bradycardic to begin with, the drop in heart rate was not seen.
A possible interpretation of this data that is consistent with clinical observations is that the techniques studied normalize autonomic nervous system tone or decrease sympathetic nervous system tone only in those with increased tone to begin with but not decreasing tone in people without that increased tone.
More simply, when you’re stressed out/ anxious/panicky/hypervigilant/etc these techniques we studied will help you relax. If you are someone who struggles with dysautonomia these techniques could potentially help normalize how your nervous system is functioning. Future research with subjects with diagnosed dysautonomia would be warranted to test this theory more fully.
We have yet to look at the EMG data and frontal lobe EEG did not produce statistically significant results.
Thank you for your curiosity and your time to those who participated!
