Meet the team - introducing MP Chelsky! She joined the Foundation for Vision Research team in August 2020. Dr. Chelsky is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and board-certified by the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry. Her passion for patient care, teaching, and research is evident as she actively contributes to retinal research, aiming to improve the lives of those affected. Beyond her professional pursuits, she enjoys spending quality time with her two dogs, and cooking and biking whenever possible. Meet the team - introducing Thomas Aaberg Jr., MD! Dr. Aaberg started clinical research at Emory University in 1997, continued at Associated Retinal Consultants, and later founded Retinal Specialists of Michigan. He established the Foundation of Vision Research in 2016 and currently operates as the Chief Medical Officer. He is committed to conquering blinding diseases and bringing advancements to West Michigan. In his spare time, he wears many hats as a woodworker, fly fisherman, proud parent, Yorkie lover, and Green Bay Packer fan. We are thrilled to host an educational event at Watermark Country Club Thursday, June 1, 2023. This is an educational event for eye care specialists (Ophthalmologists and Optometrists) who are actively caring for patients with age-related macular degeneration. The event will review the OAKS and DERBY trials that investigated pegcetacoplan for the treatment of geographic atrophy in AMD, discuss how to appropriately counsel patients, and describe the most likely patient journey. The second part of the program will review the investigational therapies available through the Foundation for Vision Research.
