You know that moment when you suddenly realize your jaw is clenched… or you’ve been holding your breath without noticing? That’s your body trying to protect you—often from threats that are no longer present.

Somatic work helps us gently update our body’s protective responses. We learn to recognize when we’re stuck in survival patterns (fight/flight/freeze) and gradually build capacity to return to that grounded middle space where connection, curiosity and calm live.

It’s not about eliminating stress—it’s about developing resilience so we can move through life’s challenges without getting stuck in them.

Have you noticed any patterns in how your body responds to stress? 👇

What if a little trigger—like family stress or work chaos—didn’t knock you off balance?

At “Being Who I Want To Be” last Saturday, folks connected the dots on how protective parts show up in our bodies when needs go unmet, and how simple tools (like noticing breath or finding center) invite us back to who we really are.

Let’s build on that in “Find Your Inner Calm”—February workshops blending body awareness with trauma insights. Over 3 Tuesdays (5:30-6:30 pm) and a Saturday, we’ll explore stress in the nervous system, hands-on ways to release bracing or overwhelm, and steps to support young parts or daily patterns.

Great for parenting, relationships, or just feeling more present. Come for one or all—it’s heart-centered and practical.

In our recent Tending Together gathering, we took a gentle pause to tend to the heart—simply being present with its wisdom, without any need to fix or change.

Grounded in the earth’s steady support, we set intentions, placed a hand where it felt right, and listened to what our hearts wanted to share. Using breath and soft “voo” sounds, we offered internal hugs and acknowledged the protective parts that work so hard. It was a nurturing reminder that compassion starts with tending to ourselves.

Tending Together is my free twice a month 30-minute Zoom space for somatic and parts work, nurturing body, mind, and spirit in a judgment-free circle.

Whether you’re new or familiar, it’s a welcoming spot to connect, practice, and recharge—complete with replays and a community space. No cost, just presence. Join the communicty and get access to the replays: https://start.growingharmonywithin.com/tendingtogether

January’s short days can amp up our body’s stress—tensing up or feeling wiped out.

In last Saturday’s “Being Who I Want To Be,” we saw how spotting those signals (racing heart, shutdown) and meeting needs like safety or rest helps us live more authentically. Small glimmers stacked together make a big difference!

Ready for more? Join “Find Your Inner Calm,” my February in-person workshops (3 Tuesdays 5:30-6:30 pm + 1 Saturday). We’ll dig into how trauma sticks in the body, learn easy ways to calm your nervous system, like resets for high energy or freeze, and build tools to be your centered self in daily life and relationships.

No experience needed—just bring your curiosity. Attend one or all; spots limited.

What a great morning today at my “Being Who I Want To Be” workshop!

We gathered to explore stepping into our true selves during this quiet January.

We started by settling into our chairs, feeling the support beneath us, and shared how the winter weather lands for each of us. Then we talked intentions for how we want to show up (gentle, present, curious), we befriended protective parts like the watchful gatekeeper or critical pruner, and used tools like the midline exercise to find our center.

We looked at how unmet needs (like rest, safety, connection, food) stir up stress in our bodies and shared glimmers, small moments like a walk with the dog or hot tea, that bring us back to calm.

If you were there, thanks for your curiosity and openness—it made it special.

What stuck with you?

Do you feel a gap between the life you’re living and the life you truly want?

That sense of being out of alignment often comes from the well-meaning, protective parts of us—the inner critic, the people-pleaser, the perfectionist—running the show based on old fears.

You don’t have to force yourself into change. You can lead yourself there with compassion.

This Saturday, join me for “Being Who I Want To Be.” In this supportive workshop, you will:
* Identify which inner part is keeping you stuck.
* Learn somatic tools to gently calm your nervous system.
* Create a clear, kind path forward toward authentic alignment.

This is your chance to step out of internal struggle and into self-trust.

Ever feel like your body is telling a story your mind hasn’t caught up with yet?

That flutter in your chest when you walk into a crowded room… the sudden fatigue after a difficult conversation… the way your shoulders tense when certain memories surface.

These aren’t random glitches—they’re your body’s way of communicating what words cannot.

Somatic Experiencing helps us listen to this bodily wisdom. It’s not about analyzing or fixing, but about gently noticing and allowing your nervous system to complete what it couldn’t in moments of overwhelm. Like helping a frightened animal gradually relax into safety, we learn to regulate from the inside out.

What body sensations have you noticed speaking to you lately?
