G.R. Heritage Hills Historic Homes District Trip

Our residents enjoyed a special treat today as they toured the Heritage Hill Historic Homes District of Grand Rapids. They explored a variety of architectural styles and admired notable homes dating back to the 1800s, each accompanied by engaging historical commentary. It was the perfect outing for history buffs and anyone who appreciates beautifully decorated homes during the Christmas season.

The final stop on this wonderful excursion was Nantucket Bakery, located within the Heritage Hill district and known for its delicious artisan breads.

Today’s trip was filled with fascinating historical insights about our beautiful city, timeless sights, and the joy of sharing the experience with friends. Yet another delightful way to kick off the holiday season in style.

SUPER FUN NIGHT! The 2025 Grand Rapids Gentex Santa Parade drew 20,000 excited people to the downtown streets. Our residents were filled with holiday spirit as they waved to all the adorable and enthusiastic children from the bus. We cruised the parade route with sentimental Christmas music playing and everyone shouting "Merry Christmas" along the way—it was a beautiful, crisp night.

The children along the street curbs were thrilled to see the man himself, Santa, who brought up the rear of this hour-long and spectacular procession. Behind our MediLodge bus came the Star Wars characters, followed by Santa’s sleigh.

Before the parade began, we invited a Star Wars character, a Stormtrooper, and Santa (with Mrs. Claus) inside our MediLodge bus to visit with our residents, adding an extra special touch to the experience. After the parade, the residents returned to MediLodge feeling joyful and ready to celebrate the holidays!

🍲Stew & Turkey Shoot 🦃

What a wonderful day! Our residents kicked off the morning by making their own Harvest Friendship Stew, filling the whole place with the most incredible aroma as it simmered away. By afternoon, everyone was ready to dig in and enjoy every delicious bowl.
To top it off, we hosted a turkey hunt—Nerf guns in hand—and everyone managed to snag a gobbler! So many laughs, good food, and great fun all around.

Our residents love creating art—especially when it comes to guided, simple step-by-step projects. Activity Assistant Laura designed an easy and enjoyable activity, and everyone painted a beautiful fall scene they can proudly frame in their rooms.

H.I.S. Creative Academy Visit
We were so fortunate to receive a visit from the teens of H.I.S. Creative Academy, who brought joy to our residents through skits, jokes, songs, and plenty of entertainment. The special evening concluded with the teens serving treats and playing bingo with our residents. It is always such a pleasure when this wonderful group spends time with us.

Christmas Thru Lowell

Friday was a gorgeous day to enjoy the Christmas Thru Lowell trip! Our resident friends had a spectacular time shopping for crafty, homemade items created by talented artists, as well as indulging in delicious treats. With 350 vendors displaying their Christmas goods, there was something for everyone.

Our bus even ventured across the Fallsburg Covered Bridge to visit the Village Two-Room School House, providing a historical, old-fashioned experience.

Christmas is on its way, and this was a wonderful way to kick off the season!
