📣📣📣 New support group announcement!!

and I are pleased to announce a FREE support group for postpartum parents and babies.

The group will meet twice a month starting Thursday, October 9th, from 11-11:45 at 3624 29th St SE, with easy parking!

The group will be led by an Occupational Therapist and Speech Pathologist who are also lactation consultants, bonus!! 🤩 The group will focus on nervous system co-regulation, addressing feeding concerns, navigating developmental milestones, and problem solving with other parents.

We are here to answer your questions, validate concerns, hear you, and offer a safe place to land and learn.

Tongues, ties, is it tied, oh my!!! 🤯😵😲

Tongue tie releases are definitely a hot topic right now working with a provider BEFORE and AFTER release makes for optimal outcomes.

And P.S. not all ties need to be released 🤭
working with a trained therapist in assessing the FUNCTION of the tongue and its impact on feeding, airway, and posture is so important.

🗣️ Parent testimony of the benefits of pre frenectomy therapy to prepare the baby’s mouth, body, and nervous system for release.

Releases of tethered oral tissues have better outcomes when the baby and family are prepared.

And not all lip and tongue ties need to be released.

Sometimes, therapy is enough.

Sometimes, it’s not.

Having a team to help walk parents through the process produces better outcomes.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good sensory gym and working with other therapists all day!! 😃

AND, there is something to be said about the progress that can be made in the home environment for so many reasons. 🏠

👉🏼Parent present during part or all of session
👉🏼Using tools already present in the home
👉🏼More consistent attendance
👉🏼Less transition difficulties
👉🏼Observation of client in their home environment
👉🏼Potentially easier for bigger families
👉🏼Can be difficult to leave the home postpartum

My career in mental health started in the community and home settings and I’m so happy it’s come full circle 💛
