We’re so grateful to our team for showing up and supporting National Donate Life Month! Your participation, from the flag raising to wearing blue and green, helped spark meaningful conversations and raise awareness about the power of organ and tissue donation. 💙💚

At 10:08 AM, as the flag was raised, we paused to reflect: every 10 minutes, someone is added to the transplant waiting list, and one donor can save up to 8 lives.

🎉✨Congratulations to Rachel Anick for being selected as our "Moments that Matter" Featured Moment!✨🎉

Two grateful co-workers shared this heartfelt story about Rachel:

“During her own lunch break, Rachel took the time to help an elderly couple in wheelchairs who were in the lunchroom. Noticing they were struggling, she kindly stepped in, helped them choose their meals, brought their food, and made sure they had everything they needed.

It was a generous act done entirely on her own time and a meaningful moment to witness. This is just one example of how Rachel consistently goes above and beyond, always willing to step in and support patients with kindness and care.”

Your voice matters! 💬

Grand Itasca’s Patient & Family Advisory Council brings patients, families, and caregivers together to share experiences and help improve the care we provide.

Hear what council member Charlotte McDermott has to say:
"Having had prior experience with Grand Itasca as a founding member of the hospital foundation in 1999, and assisting with recruitment of new physicians as a Real Estate broker in 2005 and 2006, I felt a tremendous affection for Grand Itasca and was eager to join the Patient & Family Advisory Council. In recent years I had missed involvement with the hospital and clinic, and the PFAC seemed to be an ideal opportunity to reignite that meaningful relationship.

Since joining, I have gained new insight into the workings of Grand Itasca, with issues addressed to date including signage, parking, advancements in MyChart technology, and more. The time commitment is minimal, with meetings held every other month, and the experience is both informative and highly positive. As a patient for many years, I hope to contribute practical knowledge, community familiarity, and life’s learning lessons to the PFAC discussions."

Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital has been redesignated as a Level III Trauma Hospital by the Minnesota Department of Health, reflecting our continued commitment to providing high-quality, life-saving care close to home.

This rigorous process confirms that our team meets strict standards in training, resources, and coordinated trauma response. In those critical moments known as the “golden hour,” timely access to expert care can make all the difference in survival.

“We are proud to maintain our Level III Trauma designation and continue providing high-quality emergency and trauma care close to home for our community,” said Dr. JJ Germscheid, General Surgeon & Trauma Medical Director at Grand Itasca. “This redesignation reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses, and support teams who work together every day to ensure patients receive timely, life-saving care when it matters most.”

We are honored to be part of Minnesota’s statewide trauma system, working together to improve outcomes and ensure patients receive the care they need, when they need it most.
