Next week, Beacon Hill joins communities across the world in celebrating Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to generosity and compassion. For us, it’s a chance to honor the values that shaped this community from the beginning: dignity, support, and genuine care for one another.

Your contributions make an immediate difference. Benevolent Care helps residents remain in their home even when finances change. Scholarships open new doors for staff who give so much of themselves every day. The Beacon Hill Green Fund strengthens our campus for future generations.

A look back at some warm and happy moments from our community and kitchen garden this season. The colors, harvests, and quiet beauty captured throughout the year have been a joy for us all to look back on.

Many shared how much they enjoyed spending time in the garden this year — from tending plants to simply taking in the scenery.

We’re grateful for everything the garden provided and already looking forward to next season’s growth. Here’s to another year of beauty, connection, and moments that brighten our days. ❤️

🎨 Meet Gerry Reed, 99 — proof that art has no age limit! ♥

In this inspiring 13 On Your Side interview, Gerry shares her journey into watercolor painting and her contribution to "Ageless Art", a collaborative project created by 20 Beacon Hill residents for their first-ever ArtPrize entry. Together, the group brought the beauty of nature to life through pastels, watercolors, oils, sketches, mixed media, and even a hand-sculpted piece!

At 99, Gerry Reed proves age is just a number, showcasing her art at ArtPrize 2025.

For the first time, 20 residents of Beacon Hill at Eastgate have created a collaborative entry for ArtPrize called “Ageless Art.” Residents, ages 74–99, worked alongside artist and instructor Jennifer Helner of Scripted Expressions, who leads weekly art classes on our campus.

Each resident contributed a 10-inch square piece on the theme of nature—from watercolors and pastels to oils, sketches, and even a hand-sculpted piece. Together, they form a beautiful triptych celebrating creativity, community, and the joy of art at every age.

✨ A Glimpse of History ✨

On Thursday, August 14th, residents had the special opportunity to step back in time. Beacon Hill resident, Harlene Gedris, shared an original 1945-era newspaper from Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day).

📜 August 14, 1945, is remembered as the day Japan officially surrendered to the Allied forces, bringing an end to World War II. This historic day is a time to remember and honor those who fought, suffered, and never returned home, while also marking the start of a new era in the world.

Residents enjoyed seeing this incredible piece of history up close, sparking meaningful conversations and reflection.

A heartfelt thank you to Harlene for bringing this treasured keepsake to share with all of us!
