Sterile Processing challenges often surface as symptoms, not root causes.

Throughput delays, compliance gaps, and survey findings often point to deeper operational factors—workflow design, staffing patterns, or training gaps—that equipment alone cannot resolve. When those root causes go unexamined, organizations risk investing in solutions that don’t address the underlying problem.

That’s why Skytron is partnering with Advantage Support Services, Inc. (ASSI).

ASSI brings independent clinical and operational expertise to Sterile Processing and OR environments, helping leaders clearly distinguish between process challenges and equipment performance before major operational or capital decisions are made.

This partnership is focused on:

• Standards-based compliance support, including ST108
• Readiness and operational assessments that clarify root causes
• Education and guidance that extend beyond installation

For SPD leaders, this means clearer diagnosis, better-informed decisions, and support that reflects the full operational picture—not just what’s on the equipment schedule.

Sterile Processing performance often erodes quietly.

Maintenance may be performed but inconsistently documented. Utilization data becomes distorted by workarounds. Workflow variability creates bottlenecks that remain invisible—until case delays or compliance concerns force the issue.

Skytron is partnering with Surgio Health to strengthen visibility into what’s actually happening across Sterile Processing operations.

Surgio’s platform connects instrument tracking, scope management, vendor coordination, and workflow data to support:

Clearer insight into utilization and capacity

Compliance documentation that doesn’t depend on manual workarounds

Data that informs operational and capital planning decisions

For SPD teams managing increasing complexity and tighter timelines, this partnership reduces blind spots and strengthens confidence in the information guiding day-to-day decisions.

When throughput slows or backlogs form, equipment is often blamed first.

But in many departments, the real constraint lives elsewhere—in workflow timing, documentation practices, and staffing alignment that distort performance signals over time.

This article takes a look at how operational issues are misattributed to equipment, how data credibility erodes, and how those signals complicate long-term planning decisions.

A 50-year legacy isn’t built overnight — and it isn’t built alone.

Skytron’s story has always been shaped by people, partners, and a shared commitment to doing things the right way for the long term.

That commitment continues to guide how we design, support, and stand behind solutions used in critical healthcare environments every day.

Austin, TX. January 21-23. 187 attendees representing our North American rep firms and 7 partner manufacturers.

Our National Sales Meeting centered on the theme "Power of Persistence" - but the most valuable part of the week happened outside the formal sessions.

At Punch Bowl Social, teams from different firms competed in bowling, ping pong, and arcade games. At 7 AM Friday morning, a group gathered for the Murph Challenge - a grueling workout that reinforced what persistence actually looks like when you're not presenting it on a slide.

The agenda matters. The awards and recognition matter (see yesterday's post). But the relationships built during those in-between moments - the conversations over games, the shared experiences outside the conference room - those create the foundation for long-term partnership.

Strong sales organizations are built on trust and consistent collaboration. Austin was a reminder that both require showing up, even when it's not required.

Last week, Skytron's National Sales Meeting brought together 187 people in Austin, TX - representing our North American rep firms and 7 partner organizations.

The theme was The Power of Persistence, and the three days reflected it: breakout sessions on Clinical Business Intelligence, Sterile Processing, Perioperative products, and operational best practices. General sessions that included motivational speaker Tim Pichette as well as conversations across leadership and sales teams about the discipline required to perform consistently in your facilities today.

At the awards ceremony, we recognized 39 sales award recipients for meeting quota, leading in specific product categories, and driving significant sales growth.

We also honored the retirements of two industry veterans: Gino Parenti (United Medical Products, 22 years) and Bob Byram (Innovative Medical Systems, 38 years). Their careers are a reminder of what sustained commitment and professionalism look like over decades.

Thank you to everyone who traveled, contributed, and continues to move this work forward.

Clear visualization isn’t a preference.
It’s something surgeons rely on — every case, every day.

A lot of surgeons carry years of frustration with surgical lights that promise clarity but fall short in real-world use — shadows, glare, constant adjustments.

As one surgeon shared after using Lumos:

“Most importantly, there is no shadow. I can put my head completely in front of one of the lights and I don’t get a shadow in the operating room field — and that’s just fantastic. I’m extremely pleased.”

Lumos was designed to solve the problems surgeons actually experience — consistent illumination, reduced shadowing, and dependable performance when precision matters.

Behind every product that supports the OR and Sterile Processing is a team focused on getting it right.

From the warehouse floor to final quality checks, this work happens long before equipment ever reaches your facility—but it’s what keeps schedules moving and teams supported.

Because when patient care is on the line, quality isn’t something you check at the end.
It’s built in from the start.

Capital equipment planning in ambulatory surgery centers is a balancing act.

ASCs don’t have the margin for excess, but they also don’t have room for failure. Every purchasing decision has to account for uptime, longevity, and the real operational impact of downtime in a facility with limited backup capacity.

In this edition of The Sky Is the Limit, we take a closer look at why capital equipment decisions carry higher stakes in ASC environments, how downtime hits smaller facilities differently than hospitals, and what leaders should consider beyond purchase price when planning for long-term reliability.

As we look back on the year, we realized there were simply too many great moments to share them all. So here are a few of our favorites.

From advancing knowledge at one of three Sales Academies, to paintballing at our Principal Meeting where we bring together the rep firms we partner with…
From honoring military heroes through our annual Murph Challenge, to recognizing our team at National Sales Awards…
From sharing laughs at a theme park during our end-of-summer BBQ with employees and families, to taking part in the annual Polar Plunge to support our local children’s hospital.

These moments may look different—but they all reflect the same thing.

Fifty-plus years in, being family-owned still means something to us.
It means showing up—for our people, our partners, and the communities we serve.
