Your back can pop out of joint, however, it is called a facet dislocation, usually caused by severe trauma and requires hospitalization. This is NOT what chiropractors are treating. Chiropractors are adjusting the deep stabilizer muscles along the spine. These muscles will reflexly relax and decompress the segment, typically relieving pain. The reflex also impacts other aspects along the nerve pathways and can cause changes in the prefrontal cortex of the brain.

The four rotator cuff muscles fire in a pattern. When one or more of them become injured, your brain will create a compensation pattern that limits the use of the injured tissues. These neuroplastic changes cause an increase likelihood of injury, as well as create more compressive tension around the shoulder joint wearing the cartilage prematurely (arthritis). Identifying these changes with testing early (before symptoms) can prevent injuries, arthritis, and allow for better performance.
