When we talk boundaries, we are talking about focusing on what we can control to support us through the things we cannot.

This second winter is a great example of something that is out of our control🌨🌨, if we had control of the weather we are sure we would have sunny days from here onβ˜€οΈ. What we can control is how we respond to the weather or other things outside of our control.

Other things we cannot control; past mistakes, time, actions of others. focusing on these may make us feel stuck or hopeless when we are not seeing any change.

When we switch the perspective to how we approach the things we can work with like how we grow or learn from the past, how we spend our time, who we choose to engage with or how much we engage with them. We start to see the impact of our choices.

Ashley is staying busy with another article out now!

We love seeing Ashley talking about mental health and advocating for balance. One section Ashley was able to highlight why boundaries and setting limits can be beneficial by stating,

" We often think of boundaries as what we set with other people in our lives. This is crucial in circumstances where our personal relationships might be threatening our wellbeing. But we can, and likely should, set restrictions with our media consumption, as well. Especially if we notice we’re having strong feelings while scrolling on social channels or reading a news article."

Who finds it hard to relate to affirmations βœ‹

It may be that the affirmations we are starting out with ones we cannot believe just yet. It is like trying to understand algebra without learning basic math firstπŸ˜– (and math is confusing at any level just like affirmations can be). And some of us might take a minute to get to algebra which is so fine! Give yourself realistic affirmations you can trust while you are learning self love.

Not ready to be yelling "I am beautiful", try whispering "I have done my best today". Feel out the whisper and before you know it you will be able to yell "I am doing amazing". We have to start somewhere!

🩷 Rising Together 2026 🩷
Meet Ashley Troszok

Growing up I often felt like I was either too much or not enough. This made it hard to show up authentically and to know how to fit what others expected. It has taken time, but through learning and accepting that it is okay to be me and to take up space I have also developed a passion for supporting and empowering other women who also have had the struggle of knowing how to navigate being their authentic self when it may not match expectations of others. In my work as a therapist and owner of Balanced Life Counseling & Wellness , I work with women who have experienced trauma, struggle with feeling like they’re either too much or not enough, and moms navigating the postpartum phase of life β€” including postpartum depression, anxiety, and birth trauma. I also am intentional in how I show up for my team of therapists, encouraging them to find their own balance to be able to be professional yet authentic in the work they do. My team provides trauma-informed therapy for children, teens, and adults. Each therapist has their own area of focus, allowing them to support a wide variety of needs and ages.

I love to plan trips and find unique, lesser known things to do and places to visit. I love to experience new places and learn about other cultures. When I'm not finding ideas for trips, I spend time with my family-often playing board games or having family movie nights. I recently decided to push myself out of my comfort zone to try something new and have been taking pottery classes.

Advice I would give to my younger self: Don't base your decisions on the expectations and opinions of others. Trust the dreamer part of yourself, take up space, do the things that simultaneously scare you and make you happy. Trust yourself and know that it is okay to say no-simply not wanting to do something is the only reason you need to not do it.
