One of the benefits of having your surgery at OAM Surgery Center at MidTowne is our infection rates that fall below the national benchmarks. We keep rates down through our Certified Ambulatory Infection Preventionist (CAIP); we want to recognize Julie Rossman, Peri-Operative Manager at the Surgery Center, for being one of less than 200 people in the world who have earned CAIP designation!

As an Infection Preventionist, Julie champions hand hygiene, investigates reported infections, and keeps up to date on the latest infection control standards and best practices, putting them into both policy and practice to ensure our Surgery Center adheres to the highest standards possible. By attaining CAIP, Julie distinguishes herself as a leader dedicated to ambulatory surgery infection prevention and personal development.

Today marks our first physician to perform 100 total joint replacements at OAM Surgery Center at MidtTowne, and we are celebrating! Dr. Thomas Matelic replaced Lary Hoezee's knee this morning and Lary is already home and recovering well. Congratulations Dr. Matelic on being the first to 100!

OAM surgeons perform all types of surgeries here, from repairing broken ankles to correcting carpal tunnel. Our Surgery Center at Midtowne is seeking a Surgical Technologist who is knowledgeable & compliant with AST standards, preferably has some experience in a surgical setting & in decontamination/sterile prep, and has current CPR Certification. Every two seconds, someone in the US needs blood. While some of us are headed to the shore or other fun summer destinations, many hospital patients are in desperate need of blood donations.

OAM Surgery Center at MidTowne has partnered with Versiti Blood Center of Michigan to host a community blood drive on August 6th from 11AM - 6PM.

OAM recently welcomed congressman Peter Meijer to the Surgery Center at MidTowne! During this valuable time we were able to tour the facility, discuss the multiple advantages of ASC’s, talk about how things changed since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as several other topics. We are grateful for the visit and look forward to future opportunities to welcome community members into our space!

Yesterday the staff of OAM Surgery Center at MidTowne (https://www.facebook.com/OAM-Surgery-Center-at-Midtowne-472058009643085/) had the opportunity to lead a tour of their facility for U.S. Representative Peter Meijer.

During the tour, OAM staff educated the Congressman about the community and their experiences during the pandemic, including how they were able to alleviate the strain on their local health system.

OAM Staff also drew the Congressman’s attention to the soon to be introduced Outpatient Surgery Quality and Access Act of 2021.
