What does it look like to care for yourself while caring for everyone else?
I’ll be at the Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit hosted by the City of Grand Rapids Office of Equity and Engagement this one is for parents and caregivers.
Whether you’re feeling stretched, navigating a lot, or simply wanting to be more intentional about how you care for yourself… this space is for you.
Overstimulated Parents: Practicing Self-Compassion & Power of Community
Happening this Saturday, April 25th
Room 117 | 1:20–2:30 PM
GRPS University (1400 Fuller Ave NE)
Summit runs 9:00–4:30 (+ community celebration after)
Many parents and caregivers are carrying more than they ever say out loud.
We’re not just talking, we’re practicing.
We’ll explore how this shows up in the body, and walk through real tools for regulation, boundaries, and care.
Real tools. Real conversation. Real community.
I hope to see you there.

Another impactful week onsite at Alger Middle School with the girls at LeadHERship Impact .
We explored what it means to be a team through conversation, reflection, and a hands-on challenge. Inspired by She Leads: The Elephant Matriarch, we talked about how elephant matriarchs lead with memory, wisdom, and care guiding and protecting the group, especially in times of need.

The girls put it into practice by building the tallest tower no talking, minimal materials. It stretched them and highlighted trust, patience, and collaboration.
Real leadership in action.

Forever grateful to serve my community. Thank you to Our Mental Health Collective for highlighting me alongside so many incredible social workers during Social Work Appreciation Month.

“Service is the rent we pay for the privilege of living on this earth.” — Shirley Chisholm

As a Black woman in social work, this work is deeply personal. My journey has allowed me to walk alongside many communities—from early childhood students and K–12 youth, to young adults navigating college and life transitions, to parents and mothers, adults rebuilding their lives, and members of our geriatric community.

Every story, every interaction, every moment of trust reminds me why this work matters. Grateful for the opportunity to serve, advocate, and walk with people through healing and growth.

This month, we celebrate the dedication, compassion, and impact of social workers who tirelessly advocate for individuals, families, and communities. Their work goes beyond support and foster healing environments that empower and create lasting change in the lives of those they serve. From mental health care to crisis intervention, social workers play a vital role in ensuring equity, access, and hope for all.
To all the social workers making a difference every day, we appreciate you and honor the incredible work you do.

As a facilitator in the Irth Group Chat Healing Circle, Love After Birth series, I was reminded by an attendee: “I had to center myself to experience joy, with my baby and within myself.”

Self-love is preservation.

Grateful for spaces where we can pour and be poured into. We don’t have to do this alone.

Moms, join me next time. Download the Irth App and find the group in the section labeled "Healing Circles-Love After Birth Series" Dates are in the comments below.

Shoutout to the director and cast of Sinners on their Oscar win, for honoring Black motherhood in such a real and powerful way.

Tonight, we’re holding space for the parts of that story that often go unspoken.

Shoutout to the director and cast of Sinners on their Oscar win, for honoring the depth, love, and complexity of Black motherhood in such a real way.

It really reminded me how much of our stories still go unspoken… especially when it comes to loss.

This Thursday, I’ll be holding space for that.

Our next Healing Circle, “I Am Annie,” is a virtual space for mothers to honor the mother within, through love, loss, and becoming. We’ll be centering the experiences of women who have navigated miscarriage, stillbirth, or pregnancy loss, and creating a space where your story can be held with care.

Because too many women carry this silently.
And healing was never meant to happen in isolation.

Still reflecting on Rest is Resistance: Reclaiming Wellness Through the Five Senses.

This gathering was intentionally held during Black History Month, a time to honor resilience while also acknowledging the real impact of chronic stress and heart disease in Black communities. Creating spaces for rest, reflection, and connection is part of the work.

Grateful to host my first community wellness event open to families and residents through my LLC, LeadHERWell Village, and nonprofit, LeadHERship Impact, in collaboration with the City of Grand Rapids.

Thank you to everyone who supported, attended, and believed in the vision. This is just the beginning.

“If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” — Maya Angelou

Through LeadHERWell Village, I provide therapy and wellness services for women and mothers, including workshops, healing circles, group therapy, and restorative retreats.
