We’re excited to welcome Abigail (Abby) Coffing to The Family Therapy Place as she begins her internship and takes on new clients!
Abby is a Marriage & Family Therapy intern completing her graduate training at Western Michigan University. She is passionate about supporting children, couples, and families through a warm, collaborative, and client-centered approach.
✨ Abby brings specialized experience in Play Therapy, having worked in school settings to support children with emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. She also values working with parent-child relationships, helping families strengthen connection and communication.
Abby’s therapeutic style is eclectic and grounded in humanistic, strength-based, and attachment-focused perspectives. She integrates techniques from:
Play Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), The Gottman Method (Level 1 trained, currently completing Level 2), Imago Relationship Therapy
She is especially passionate about helping clients navigate attachment wounds, communication struggles, and life transitions, while creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients of all ages feel supported and empowered.
Abby is now accepting new clients at a reduced rate of $25/session (no insurance needed). Sessions will be supervised by Tracy Thompson, LPC, throughout her internship.
