What a beautiful day in the vines 💜
Because of this incredible community, the Heartlinks Block Party was filled with connection, laughter, and support for local families.
From wine tastings and live music to time spent with friends old and new—every moment helped make a difference.

For the past several years, Alison has been quietly making a meaningful difference as a Heartlinks volunteer—showing up week after week to spend time with patients in care facilities. What began as an invitation from a friend soon became something much more.

Alison started volunteering shortly after retiring, simply wanting to give something back and brighten someone’s day. Now, she spends about an hour each week visiting patients—talking about everyday things like the weather, holidays, or whatever brings a moment of connection. Sometimes that looks like flipping through a magazine together, or bringing a simple coloring book—like the time she returned to find a patient’s walls filled with artwork they had created together.

She’ll tell you she’s introverted and didn’t think she’d be very good at volunteering—but through this experience, she’s discovered something new about herself. In her words, she’s probably gotten more out of it than the patients have.

And her story is just one of many.

To all of our volunteers—thank you. You are the heart behind everything we do. Whether you're visiting patients, supporting families, or offering small moments of connection… your time and compassion make a lasting difference.

Even the simplest moments—a place to sit together, a breath of fresh air—can mean everything at the end of life.

We’re creating a therapy garden at our Heartlinks Adult Family Home in Sunnyside to offer patients and their families a peaceful space for connection, reflection, and comfort.

With $75,000 already secured, we just need $25,000 more to make this vision a reality.

For the past 5 years, Judy has been a familiar, friendly face at our Zillah Hobs—joining us right when the store first opened. What started as a way to stay active and connected after retirement has become something much more.

Judy began volunteering because she enjoys being around people. She continues because of the community she’s found—at Heartlinks, at Hobs, and in the meaningful work she gets to be part of every day.

And her story is just one of many.
