Burrell is the very definition of community. His unwavering dedication, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond have made him a trusted presence not only within our walls, but throughout the Wayland and Dorr communities. Whether guiding families through their most difficult moments, staying late to ensure every detail is cared for, or stepping in without hesitation when challenges arise, Burrell leads with kindness, clarity, and a servant’s heart.

From creatively troubleshooting an aging funeral coach to offering countless hugs and words of comfort at services, Burrell continuously shows what it means to live out Service Excellence every single day. His years of heartfelt service have earned him numerous community awards and the deep respect of colleagues, families, and neighbors.

At 90 years old, his commitment remains unwavering. One unforgettable example: scheduled for a heart stent procedure the morning of his friend Bob Tanner’s retirement celebration, Burrell insisted the date remain unchanged — and still arrived that afternoon, sling and all, smiling and ready to honor his colleague. That is the spirit of loyalty, leadership, and love that defines him.

We were honored to have our team join with the Stein family as we celebrated Burrell and his incredible service to the Wayland and Dorr communities.
