The DRC is very proud to have worked with the United Way of St. Joseph County. Previous support has allowed us to connect people here in St. Joseh County to medication, support and education. In fact we have done over $4.6 million in the last 15 years.

We'd like to share some United Way history by highlighting a local nonprofit partner doing important work in the community since 1966. United Health Services was established with funding from United Way and has been improving the lives of our community members for 60 years. Here is a bit about their services, please connect with them on social media and visit their website to learn more.

United Health Services is a family of agencies and programs founded in 1966 to help coordinate the efforts of local small not-for-profit health related organizations.

Dedicated to the principles of service and cooperation, United Health Services programs share staff, facilities and budget to deliver programs in a formal alliance of trust and collaboration.

Our five active programs are the Breast Health Programs, Community Services with All Deaf, Covering Kids and Families of United Health Services, the Diabetes Resource Center, and the Su***de Prevention Center.

United Health Services is also the grant recipient from the Indiana Department of Health for the Indiana Breast & Cervical Cancer Program and Indiana WISEWOMAN programs.

A great free oppurtunity to learn more about diabetes from the Elkhart County Health Department and Family Resource Center.

Join the Elkhart County Health Department for their Diabetes Classes at the Elkhart County Family Resource Center. There will be 3 different sessions for this on February 3, 2026, March 3, 2026, and April 7, 2026 from 1 - 2 PM. The first session will go over the basics of diabetes, the second session will go over nutrition, and the third session will go over carbohydrates.

Everyone is welcome to attend and it is encouraged to attend all 3 sessions.

Generic pharmacy test strips are a great option for people without insurance. Each store has their own brand, so once you buy a meter, keep going to that store as they are not interchangable. As always, if you'd like to pick up some alcohol pads, give us a call. Let us know if you have questions!

The WNDU I-Team has spotted multiple road signs in South Bend, Mishawaka and Warsaw saying they buy or sell diabetic supplies.
