🎉The Board of Trustees of Syringa Hospital & Clinics is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Charlene C. Boyer, DHA, as the next Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1, 2026. Dr. Boyer brings more than 30 years of progressive leadership experience across community-based hospitals, critical access facilities, and multi-campus health systems, with a distinguished record of strengthening rural healthcare delivery and advancing patient-centered care. She also currently holds an active Idaho nursing license.
Dr. Boyer is a seasoned clinical and operational executive whose career began at the bedside and evolved through senior nursing leadership into transformative C suite roles. Her deep clinical foundation—supported by dual Bachelor’s degrees in nursing and health science, a Master’s in organizational leadership, and a Doctor of Health Administration—anchors her leadership philosophy in safety, quality, and community trust.
Most recently, Dr. Boyer served as National Executive Director for Horizon Health/UHS, partnering with hospital CEOs across the country to elevate behavioral health services within critical access and regional medical centers. Her work included operational turnarounds, service line development, and community outreach initiatives that strengthened access to care in rural markets. She has led behavioral health and acute care programs in multiple community hospitals, including Boulder City Hospital, a critical access facility where she oversaw inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs with a strong emphasis on rural health alignment.
Dr. Boyer previously served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Nursing Officer at Desert Winds Hospital, where she led a full organizational repositioning, strengthened clinical governance, and executed a successful transition of ownership while ensuring continuity of care. Her earlier leadership roles include Chief Nursing Executive Officer at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz County and senior executive positions at Kaiser Permanente, where she directed operations across emergency services, acute care, home health, and specialty units.
Throughout her career, Dr. Boyer has been recognized for:
• Transformational leadership in community and rural hospitals
• Operational excellence and regulatory readiness, including multiple Joint Commission surveys with zero findings
• Strengthening workforce stability, including recruitment, retention, and leadership development
• Building community partnerships and expanding access to care
• Advancing patient safety, quality outcomes, and service excellence
Her experience in critical access environments, combined with her nursing background and system-level leadership, positions her uniquely to guide Syringa Hospital & Clinics into its next chapter of growth, stability, and community-centered service.
The Board extends its gratitude to the leadership team for their continued dedication during this transition and looks forward to welcoming Dr. Boyer to Grangeville and the broader Syringa community.
