Phyllis Lynn Saunders High, 78, of Granite Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Alongside her husband, Tommy, and her in-laws, T.C. “Lanky” High and Annie Mackie High, Phyllis devoted many years to serving as co-owner and secretary of High Funeral Home, later known as Mackie-High Funeral Home. Her life’s work was rooted in compassion, as she tirelessly supported families during their most difficult moments. Phyllis will be remembered for her infectious laugh, generous spirit, and unwavering optimism.

▪️Meet Our Mackie Family▪️

First up, lets get to know our owner, Andy Thompson.

Andy Thompson is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer with over 30 years of experience, having served families with compassion since 1991. He is a graduate of East Burke High School and earned his degree from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia, in September 1995.
Andy is an active member of the North Carolina Funeral Directors Association, the National Morticians Fraternity, Pi Sigma Eta, and the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, reflecting his dedication to professional excellence. He is married to his wife, Connie R. Thompson, and is a member of the First Baptist Church, a Mason, and a Shriner. Outside of his professional life, Andy enjoys gardening and traveling.
Proudly from Valdese with deep roots in Granite Falls, Andy believes serving the community is more than a profession—it’s serving family.

What a beautiful evening we had last night at Mackie Funeral Service & Cremations at our Christmas Memorial Service. As we gathered in our chapel, we remembered each life with love and gratitude. Every family received a porcelain angel with their loved one’s name—a small reminder that they are forever cherished and never forgotten. May this season bring comfort, peace, and light to all who mourn. 🙏🏻❤️

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Dan Greene of Christian Fellowship Chapel. His message of comfort was filled with compassion and light, and it blessed every person who attended. Thank you for sharing your gift of encouragement with us. 🙏🏻❤️
