Mrs. Magdeline N. Widener, 79, of Langley, SC, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, while in the comfort of the home of her daughter, Pam Cook. Mrs. Widener, the wife of the late Goldie “Junior” Widener for over 55 years, was the mother of Pam (Jason) Cook, Glenn (Kim) Widener, Allen (Samantha) Widener, and Debbie Widener.

A lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, Magdeline was the daughter of the late Morgan and Bertha Lee Wood Keenan. After the passing of her mother at the age of three, her father remarried, and Magdeline was raised by her stepmother, Mrs. Minnie Keenan.

Magdeline was employed by King Mill in Augusta, GA, for 28 years. She was an active and dedicated member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and cherished her Christian faith and her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Magdeline and Junior each had a deep love of music, managing and operating weekly events at the Carolina Jamboree for many years. Magdeline loved to sit and sing along with Junior and his bandmates as they played, whether in the living room of their home, at an event, or at a venue where they were asked to play.

Magdeline also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and painting. She made the ordinary feel extraordinary through a warm meal, a clean home, or a soft place to land when life became too much. She had a way of giving that wasn’t about the item, but the heart behind it. Every gift she gave carried her thoughtfulness, her love, and her unmatched ability to make others feel special.

Magdeline enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Randy Wheeler, Lena (Chuck) Morris, Magen (John) Garlick, Amber (John) Perara, Matthew Widener, Brooke Widener, Brayden Widener, and her 11 great-grandchildren.

Along with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Magdeline is survived by siblings, Margaret Odom, Peggy (Steve) Hicks, and Mary Lee (Daryl) Opalewski, as well as other relatives.

Also preceding Magdeline in death were a grandson, A.J. Widener, a great-granddaughter, Samia Widener, and siblings, Marvin Keenan, Melvin Keenan, M.D. Keenan and Gene Ray Keenan.

Friends will be greeted by the family on Sunday, December 7, 2025, beginning at 2 pm at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Bath, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 pm at the church. Dr. Harold Herd will officiate. Interment will follow in the Langley Cemetery, Langley, SC. Pallbearers will be Donald Keenan, Kevin Keenan, Marvin Keenan, Eddie Willing, Russell Smith, Andrew Fore, and Honorary Pallbearer Billy Fore.

Considering her love for her church, memorial donations in her honor may be given to Pine Grove Baptist Church.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of Thomas “Tadd” Brandt Lilly, Jr., who entered into eternal rest on October 26, 2025 at the age of 33 following a brutal act of gun violence at a local gas station in North Augusta, South Carolina. Taken far too soon, he was tragically in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Those who knew Tadd described him as being a loyal friend and lovable person who brought a smile to everyone he met. You couldn’t help but like him. He loved listening to music, especially rap. More than anything, he loved his son and was proud to be his dad.
In recent months, Tadd had turned his life around and was proud to have celebrated six months of sobriety - a milestone that reflected his desire for a better future.

Left to cherish his memory along with his son Zachary "Thomas" Lilly are his brothers, Michael Blocker and Cameron Humphrey (Alison); Aunt Dana Turner (Bill), Uncle Don Humphrey, and Aunt Rachel Guilfoyle; as well as numerous cousins, and his loving fiancé Kristy Taylor. Tadd was loved by all and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Preceding Tadd in death were his parents Darlene Humphrey Blocker and Thomas Brandt Lilly, Sr., as well as his maternal grandparents, Brenda and Donnie Humphrey.

The family will greet friends on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10:30 until 11 AM at the University Parkway Church of God, 1761 University Parkway, Aiken SC 29801. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 o’clock in the church sanctuary. Pastor Henry Shaffer will officiate.

Friends are invited to leave messages of condolence at hatcherfuneralhome.com.

Born in Belize, Richard came to the United States in 1960 and soon after proudly joined the U.S. Army. On June 5, 1964, he married the love of his life, Frances Goodpaster, whose unwavering support accompanied him throughout his distinguished 30-year military career. Together, they traveled the world, creating lasting memories in every place they called home — from Germany, where their first child, Laura, was born, to Arizona, where their son, David, entered the world. Richard served in many posts, including as head of communications in Fort Davis, Panama.

In 1980, Richard became a United States citizen, the same year his beloved homeland of Belize gained independence from Great Britain — a moment of immense pride for him.

Following his retirement from the Army, Richard found great joy on the golf course. He played nearly every day, especially enjoying his Wednesday rounds at Forest Hills. He was a proud member of several golf clubs, including the River Golf Club — conveniently located around the corner from his home — and Gordon Lakes, where he achieved several holes-in-one.

Above all, Richard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his family deeply and took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren, often picking them up from school and sharing stories of his life and travels.

Richard will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, adventurous spirit, and love for both his family and his country. His life was one of service, discovery, and connection — a true testament to perseverance and love.
