What is the FRAT Test?
The Folate Receptor Autoantibody Test (FRAT) detects autoantibodies that block folate from reaching the brain — a condition linked to cerebral folate deficiency, which has been associated with symptoms seen in autism spectrum disorder and other developmental challenges.
When folate can’t reach the developing brain, children may experience speech delays, motor challenges, and neurological symptoms. Identifying these autoantibodies opens the door to targeted interventions — and for many families, it has been life-changing.
