What if orthodontics focused on growth instead of correction?
Traditional braces move teeth after problems develop.

Myobrace works earlier.

This preventive orthodontic system helps guide jaw development, muscle function, and breathing patterns while children are still growing.

The appliance is typically worn:
• 1–2 hours during the day
• Overnight while sleeping

Combined with simple exercises, Myobrace helps train the mouth and facial muscles to function properly.

The goal isn't just straighter teeth — it's healthier development overall.

ADHD is complex — but there’s a connection many parents and adults have never been told about: jaw development and airway health.

Research suggests that a narrow or retruded dental arch may influence breathing, sleep quality, and oxygen levels — all of which can affect attention and behavior.

It often starts with mouth breathing.

When the mouth stays open due to allergies, tongue tie, or airway issues, the tongue rests on the floor of the mouth instead of the roof. Over time this can lead to:
• A high, narrow palate
• A smaller dental arch
• Underdeveloped facial bones
• Less airway space in the throat

Less airway space can mean poorer oxygen flow during sleep, which may contribute to:
• Poor sleep quality
• Bedwetting in children
• Behavioral challenges
• Difficulty concentrating
• Headaches and mood changes

The shape of the dental arch can influence much more than just teeth alignment — it can impact sleep, breathing, and overall health.

Sometimes addressing airway and jaw development can make a meaningful difference in how the body and brain function.

Jaw asymmetry isn’t always just about the jaw.
It can be influenced by breathing, tongue posture, muscle balance, and how the teeth fit together.

That’s why the first step in correcting jaw asymmetry is a detailed diagnosis.

Several factors need to be evaluated, including:
• Airway and breathing patterns
• Tongue posture and position
• Upper and lower jaw anatomy
• Jaw joint (TMJ) position
• Muscle function of the head and neck
• Facial symmetry
• Posture and spinal alignment

During development, the airway and tongue play a major role in shaping the face. When the tongue doesn’t rest on the roof of the mouth, it can contribute to a narrow palate, long facial profile, or less prominent chin.

Using 3D imaging and digital analysis, we can evaluate the jaw joints, teeth, and facial structure to understand why asymmetry is occurring.

In many cases, asymmetry is caused by a dysfunctional bite forcing the jaw and muscles out of balance.
A temporary orthotic appliance can help guide the jaw into a more stable position, allowing the muscles and joints to relax and rebalance. Once stability is achieved, long-term non-surgical treatments — such as TMJ orthodontics — can help complete the correction.
When the bite, muscles, and joints work together properly, the face often begins to return to better balance and symmetry.

Breathing is automatic… but how you breathe matters more than most people realize.
Your nose is designed to filter air, regulate airflow, and produce nitric oxide, which helps support oxygen delivery and overall health.

When breathing shifts to the mouth instead of the nose, the body can begin to experience a cascade of problems.

In children, chronic mouth breathing may contribute to:
• Crooked teeth
• Poor facial development
• Sleep disturbances
• Difficulty concentrating
• Slower growth and development

When children don’t sleep well, it can also impact learning, behavior, and academic performance.

In adults, long-term mouth breathing may lead to:
• Bad breath
• Gum disease
• Snoring
• Chapped lips
• Dark circles under the eyes
• Increased inflammation

It can also worsen conditions like asthma, sleep apnea, blood pressure issues, and infections of the ears, throat, and lungs.

Your airway and breathing habits play a much bigger role in overall health than most people think.
💬 Have you ever noticed if you breathe mostly through your mouth or your nose?

Some oral infections can hide where traditional tests don’t always detect them.

That’s where DNA Connexions testing can make a difference.

This advanced oral panel test analyzes bacterial DNA to identify specific oral pathogens that may be contributing to inflammation, gum disease, or chronic oral health concerns. Instead of guessing, this testing helps us better understand what’s happening at a microbial level.

With more precise information, we can create a treatment plan that is targeted, personalized, and focused on restoring oral health.

Because when you know exactly what bacteria are present, you can treat the root of the problem — not just the symptoms.
💬 Have you ever heard of DNA testing being used for oral health?

Crooked teeth don’t always start with the teeth.
They often start with habits.

Mouth breathing.
Incorrect tongue posture.
Improper swallowing.
Underdeveloped jaws.

Myobrace focuses on correcting these habits early while a child is still growing. Instead of simply moving teeth later with braces, Myobrace helps guide natural jaw development and proper oral function.

This early orthodontic approach can help:
• Support healthy jaw growth
• Encourage nasal breathing
• Create space for teeth to grow naturally
• Reduce the need for braces later

Sometimes the best orthodontic treatment is preventing the problem before it develops.

Pain and inflammation don’t always need more medication — sometimes the body just needs the right kind of stimulation to heal.

Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) uses gentle laser light to support healing at the cellular level. This light energy helps cells function more efficiently, which can reduce inflammation and relieve discomfort.

In dentistry, LLLT is often used to:
• Reduce pain after procedures
• Decrease inflammation
• Support faster healing of tissues
• Improve patient comfort during recovery

Instead of forcing the body to react, this therapy supports the body’s natural healing process.

Small light. Big impact on healing.

Your smile should look natural — not artificial.

Holistic cosmetic bonding is a simple way to improve the appearance of teeth while preserving as much of your natural tooth structure as possible.

Using a tooth-colored composite material, we carefully shape and bond the material to the existing tooth to improve size, shape, or color. The goal is not to change your smile completely, but to enhance what’s already there.

Cosmetic bonding can help with:
• Small chips or cracks
• Gaps between teeth
• Uneven edges
• Tooth discoloration
• Improving tooth shape

It’s a conservative, aesthetic approach that blends seamlessly with your natural teeth.

✨ Small changes can make a big difference in how confident you feel about your smile.
💬 If you could improve one thing about your smile, what would it be?

Not all water used in dental procedures is the same.
What if the water used during your treatment could actually help your body heal instead of simply rinsing?

At our holistic dental practice, we use ozone therapy — a powerful form of oxygen (O₃) that helps reduce bacteria and support the body’s natural healing process.

After removing infection, we use ozonated water to help cleanse the area and reduce harmful bacteria that can be introduced through standard water systems. The goal is simple: create a cleaner environment so your body can recover more naturally.

Ozone therapy can be used for:
• Cleaning after infected tooth removal
• Treating periodontal infections and biofilm
• Cleaning a tooth before placing a filling
• Enhancing teeth whitening
• Providing purified water during dental procedures

It’s one of the ways holistic dentistry focuses on supporting your body, not overwhelming it with chemicals.
✨ Better healing starts with a cleaner environment.

Breathing shouldn’t make your body feel like it’s running a marathon all night.
Many people struggling with weight loss are actually fighting something invisible — airway obstruction during sleep. When your airway is blocked, your body goes into survival mode.

Instead of resting, your body is:
• releasing stress hormones
• increasing inflammation
• disrupting metabolism
• making weight loss feel impossible

So even with dieting and exercise… the scale barely moves.

The issue may not be lack of discipline — it may be lack of oxygen during sleep.

Your body might simply be overworking every night trying to breathe.

When the airway is restored, the body can finally focus on healing, balancing hormones, and regulating weight the way it was designed to.

💬 Have you ever felt exhausted even after a full night of sleep while trying to lose weight?

Your smile and your kidneys have more in common than you think. 💙
Tomorrow is World Kidney Day, and it’s a powerful reminder that oral health is connected to whole-body health.

Inflammation in the mouth — especially from gum disease — doesn’t just stay in your gums. It can enter the bloodstream and place extra stress on organs like the kidneys. For patients living with kidney disease, oral infections can increase complications and make overall health harder to manage.

That’s why holistic dental care matters. 🦷✨
We don’t just look at teeth — we look at how your oral health supports your entire body. Preventing gum disease, reducing inflammation, and maintaining regular cleanings are small steps that protect more than just your smile.
A healthy mouth supports a healthier you.

Our Story

“After 18 years of practicing dentistry and thousands of hours of continuing education, a recurring factor present for many of my patients was their experience with a breakdown of dentistry and chronic pain.

My studies have given me the resources to understand how muscles, TMJ position, posture, airway and the way teeth bite all go together like a gear system. That was the connection to understand why this was happening to these patients! The “ah-ha” moment!

My passion is to help you discover why your pain has happened, and then give you choices to get relief. TMJ+ is the name that embodies the source and the solution for your relief.” -Dr. Becky Coats

Dr. Becky Coats began private practice in general dentistry in 2004 in Grapevine, Texas as Grapevine Dental Care where she provided family and cosmetic dentistry until 2008.
