October 22nd is World Wombat Day! These cute, furry marsupials are native to Australia, and are among the largest burrowing animals in the world. Here are some wombat facts you may not have known:
⭐️ A group of wombats is called a wisdom!
⭐️ Like other marsupials, wombats carry their babies in pouches. Wombat pouches face backwards, towards their rumps, so that the pouches don't fill with dirt while digging.
⭐️ Wombats have cube-shaped p**p due to the length and shape of their digestive tracts.
⭐️ Wombat teeth grow continuously. Like beavers, they must gnaw on hardy material to wear down their teeth.

A recent study has found that among people living with dementia (PLWD) who report functional hearing loss, those who use hearing aids experience fewer and less severe neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) compared to those who do not.

The authors emphasized the need for further research to confirm causality and explore how hearing care can be integrated into dementia management plans.

August 12 was World Elephant Day! This annual observance highlights the importance of protecting and preserving these amazing animals.

Elephants have a lot going on when it comes to their ears! The large surface area of elephants' ears allow them to stay cool through thermoregulation, send non-verbal messages to other elephants, and direct sounds to the inner ear.

Elephants are also able to hear sounds at a lower frequency than the human range of hearing, which they use to communicate with each other across distances. These low frequency sounds are called infrasonic calls.

Should you wear your hearing aids while exercising? Our answer is yes! Wearing your hearing aids during a workout can aid communication and help keep you safe in potentially hazardous situations.

Just make sure to care for your hearing aids after exercising, the same the way you would with any workout gear. Wipe them down with a clean, dry cloth to remove excess moisture from sweat and keep them working great!
