Is it a cold or is it the flu? With overlapping symptoms, it can be hard to tell without proper testing!

As respiratory illnesses continue to be on the rise, we wanted to share a reminder of some of the symptoms to take note of.

Back in December, OCH's Dr. Cullum shared some helpful information on the topic: "Quick and precise diagnosis is essential. This can allow for appropriate treatment, in turn leading to earlier resolution in symptoms, prevention of progression of disease and decrease rate of transmission."

So when should you see a provider?
If you have an emergency warning sign, like trouble breathing or chest pain, you should seek emergency medical care immediately. The OCH Emergency Room in Gravette, AR is open 24/7 with no wait time or call 911 for assistance.

Donate blood & show your support for your local first responders in our annual Boots and Badges Community Blood Drive here in Gravette! The police 👮‍♂️ and fire department 🚒 will be battling it out this Wednesday, August 24th from 10am - 4pm, to see who can get the most blood donors. Be sure to tell them who you are voting for when you donate at either OCH or the Civic Center! The winning departments get a trophy and bragging rights.

In honor of UV Safety month, OCH will be hosting a complimentary skin cancer screening this Friday, July 29th from 11:00am-1:00pm.

Dr. Hilton McDonald, who specializes in identifying and treating skin cancer, will be performing the evaluations in our OCH Specialty Clinic (2nd floor of Ozarks Community Hospital.)

If you have areas you are worried about, including: new spots, red patches, itchy or painful spots, rough textures on the skin, or sores that do not heal, Contact the OCH Specialty Clinic at 479-344-6870 to reserve a time slot.

Initial screenings are free, but it is important to bring your Photo ID and Insurance card for OCH to have on file incase further treatment is needed following the screening.

In honor of National Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Ozarks Community Hospital is offering FREE skin cancer screenings on Thursday, May 26th from 2:30-4:30pm in our OCH Specialty Clinic, located on the 2nd floor of the hospital.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, but you have the best chance to stay healthy with early detection. Be sure to book your appointment soon as these spots fill quickly!
